I have a traumatic jaw what are my option other than having a surgery or straightening my teeth

Thursday, June 4th, 2009
Q.
Hi, I was told by my orthodontist that I have a traumatic jaw and she advised two options – one was to go through an operation involving jaw reconstruction and then braces for a year or second option to have two teeth removed on either side and have braces for two years which would result in 60-70% accuracy of teeth alignment. I have an under bite. Quite frankly, I don’t fancy either of these so could there be an alternative to acquiring straight jaw line and teeth alignment within a short scale of time? Thanking you in anticipation.

My adult tooth has broken through the roof of tooth can i uses invisalign instead of braces

Thursday, June 4th, 2009
Q.
Hi there, I still have 1 baby tooth left (I’m 29!)the tooth is the third from the front at the top. The adult tooth has just broken through the roof of mouth behind the exsisting baby tooth.I’ve just been to an NHS training hospital, and the othadontist is prepared to carry out the work required for free , But they want to fit me with fixed braces on the top and bottom row, which I’ll have to wear for at least 14 months. I really dont want to have to wear such obvouis braces, and although i can get this treatment for free, Id like to know if invisalign would be suitable for treatment like mine? With regards

I just noticed that my mouth palate is hard and it outward Is it abnormal bone growth

Wednesday, June 3rd, 2009
Q.
I just noticed that my mouth palate is hard and it outward, I am not sure how long I have had this but I did have braces about four years ago and I am worried. Does this have anything to do with braces or is it an abnormal bone growth? It does not hurt at all but a few months ago after noticing the problem, that part of my mouth was sore like when you get burned and it was hard for me to eat, I rinsed with peroxide and in a couple of days it was back to normal.

My upper canines are crooked is it possible to have a dental filling or will i need to remove it

Tuesday, June 2nd, 2009
Q.
Dear Dr Patel Both of my upper canines are crooked, lying flat against the vertical edge of my two front teeth, if you can picture that! I suspect I need a filling in the left canine and plan to visit my dentist soon. However, given that the tooth is so difficult to access, is filling it possible or will it need to be removed? I’m worried as I’m only 30 and have always been known for my lovely smile! Many thanks in anticipation,

Tuesday, June 2nd, 2009
Q.
As a child and teenager I sucked my thumb causing my teeth to be pushed up and causing a arched gap. It is quite pronounced and people often comment that they can’t see my top teeth when I talk. I feel very self conscious and embarrassed by my teeth. Is there anything that can be done?

my daughter is in jaw pain so she can not close her jaw completely what would be the reason

Tuesday, June 2nd, 2009
Q.
My 25 year old daughter has been having bouts of jaw pain ever since she had her braces removed about three years ago. The pain can become so severe it goes into her neck. She is unable to close her jaw completely so that her back teeth touch and her jaw clicks. Her orthodontist didn’t say anything about any jaw problems when her braces were put on. Any ideas on what could be wrong and what she can do to alleviate her pain.

Should i need to wear braces for 2 year to close a 4 inch gap between my front teeth any advice

Tuesday, June 2nd, 2009
Q.
Dr dentist, i am having brace in two week time beacuse of a 4 inch gap between my front teeth and 2 inch my bottom. when i visited my orthodontist he made it clear, he cannot close my front teeth gap completely but he can close it slightly because from his own view , if he closes it completely my teeth will look weird . (because of other patients experience) from this i feel quite disappointed because my main aim of the entire treatment is to sort out the gap before i go uni in the next two years. for this i have intended to urge him that id like the gap to close completely but before, i would like to know what you think about this decision and also i’m meant to wear the braces for twoyears which seems quit a long time just to close a 4 inch gap slight not completely, i just dont understand. any advice would be appreciated. thankx

Dear Dr Riten, I am 22 years old, I am not at all happy with my teeth. When I went to the hospital for advice, they said I have to have my jaw brought forward, that is something big. I was wondering if there is any way of straightening my teeth without the operation. I understand that it will not be effective as would have been if I was younger, but I’m very desperate now, please can you help me Dr Riten? Thank you Yours sincerely inthu
