Would Veneers Be An Option for Overlapping Teeth?

Tuesday, April 21st, 2015
Q.

When I was 14 I got taken to an orthodontist after waiting four years to see one. After that they kept cancelling and delaying appointments for a whole year. When I eventually got to speak to the team they told me I shouldn’t get braces and I wouldn’t benefit from them, after five years of waiting. I’m now older and want straight teeth. I wouldn’t say they are that bad but I’m extremely conscious and want them fixed. My two front upper teeth overlap. My right one over laps the left one slightly. My upper jaw is also “too short” as the team at the orthodontist told me. I was wondering if it would be possible to have veneers for my two upper teeth and what the price would be, roughly?

What Kind of Treatment is Best for Closing Gaps in the Teeth?

Friday, January 23rd, 2015
Q.

Hello Dr Hughes. My teeth have all got gaps in between them, on both the top and bottom sets of teeth. I would like to get my teeth put together as fast as it could be. So I was wondering what treatment would I need and how much do you think it would cost? Adding to this, I was considering what type of pain would I be going through and how long would the surgery take, would it be weeks or days? Thank you, please get back to me.

Where Can I Go for Orthodontic Treatment?

Wednesday, January 21st, 2015
Q.

Hello. I started to visit a dentist about year and a half ago and was told I had to go into hospital to have a tooth out before starting orthodontic treatment. Since I had this tooth removed, I’ve got no further with starting treatment and have just been pushed from pillar to post, visiting 3-4 different dentists and paying for consultations and x-rays but getting no further. I’m 44 years old and don’t want go leave it too late. I really hope you can help me or advise me about where I can go. It’s been quite upsetting time as i feel no one wants too help me. I’ve got a big family wedding in two and a half years time, so I would really like to start treatment as soon as possible. Thank you.

I Want A Smile Makeover But I’m Confused On Which Specific Treatment To Get. Is There Any Advice You Can Give Me?

Wednesday, October 15th, 2014
Q.

Hi Mark, I have been wanting a smile makeover for a while now and I am a bit confused on what to get.
I have been told most of my teeth are okay except the four front ones where I have two crowns at the top and I need two veneers at the bottom.
I hate the colour and the size of my teeth, and most are slightly worn down the further back they go.
My ideal would be to have all the teeth removed and replaced with implants or something along those lines. Is this possible even when most of my teeth are supposedly fine? Is there any advice you can give me? Thanks.

I Have Paid a Lot of Money for Braces and My Teeth are Still Not Straight. What Should I Do?

Wednesday, September 10th, 2014
Q.

I paid £1800.00 for a brace and my teeth are still not straight. I was told that my treatment was finished and I did everything I was told to do during the treatment. They lost a few retainers so I had to get the brace put on again, and they also asked me to change practices twice, which also cost me more as it was no longer my local practice so I had to travel further. The brace is off now and I have to wear a plastic retainer every night. The teeth were never straight when my fixed brace was moved and I don’t know what to do. I feel that this has been a waste of money. What should I do?

I Have an Overbite. How Might This be Corrected?

Tuesday, September 9th, 2014
Q.

Hello Dr Gambroudes, I’m wondering if you can give me some information. I have an overbite. How long do you think it would take to be corrected, and how exactly would it be corrected? Will it be painful? On the right side of my teeth, the upper teeth are overlapping the lower ones, while the lower ones are bent inwards. I only chew food on the left side and I always feel the tip of my tongue touching my upper front teeth. The front upper teeth are extremely overlapping the lower ones, in fact they are sticking out. Can this problem be easily treated? Thank you for any advice you can give!

What Would Be The Better Option For Me A Dental Implant Or A Resin Bonded Bridge?

Monday, June 16th, 2014
Q.

Hi. My dentist has recommended a resin bonded bridge over an implant for my top left lateral tooth, as he does not believe the space of 6.5 millimeters is sufficient to enable an implant to be successfully inserted. Is this correct? The internet suggests that the minimum is nearer to 5 millimeters (allowing for 1 millimeter gap either side of the tooth).
He has also expressed concern that the bone may need grafting as traditionally the bone is thin in this area and usually inserts only last 10-12 years (with added risk of infection) opposed to the resin bond bridge which lasts up to 8 years normally. Again are these assertions correct/normal?

It’s Been A Life-Long Dream Of Mine To Smile. How Can I Fix My Overbite Without Spending Too Much Money?

Friday, May 16th, 2014
Q.

Hello Andrew. Could you help me? I wanted to know if tooth bonding is a suitable treatment for my teeth which are a bit see-through? I also need braces because of my overbite.  Please give me an answer as to how I can do this without spending too much money. I really need help with my teeth. I’m currently too embarrassed to go to the dentist as well. It’s been my life-long dream to be able to smile. Thank you in advance for your reply.

I Have A Gap Between My Lateral Incisors And My Cuspids, The Gap Is Down To The Shape Of My Canines. Would Filing Them Work?

Wednesday, March 19th, 2014
Q.

Hello Dr Hughes, I like your help with a problem. I have a gap between my lateral incisors and my cuspids. The gap is down to the shape of my canines, which makes me have this space where my bottom cuspids should be. I’m currently undergoing orthodontic treatment and am wondering if I could somehow have those spaces removed, I really dislike them! Will teeth filing do anything? Should I wait until the orthodontic treatment is finished before fixing this problem? I could send you some pictures of what I’m talking about so you guys could help me in greater detail. That would be brilliant. Thank you for your reply beforehand!

I’m Unsure About Having Jaw Surgery And Extracting My Premolars. Would This Cause Me Any Problems In The Future?

Monday, March 10th, 2014
Q.

Hey Mark, I have had a consultancy appointment concerning jaw surgery where I was told I would have my upper jaw broken in two places and worked on separately and then my lower jaw moved back. There is nothing particularly wrong with my teeth; I just have an open bite. The surgeon told me I will have to have my wisdom teeth out along with my premolars so he has somewhere to enter to do the surgery, I have read up on this and with other patients the surgeon has just entered through the root of the mouth. I know in the end it will solve the problem of my open bite but what are the repercussions of the first premolar removals? Will it affect the end product of my teeth alignment or cause any problems in the future? Thank you, I look forward to your reply.
