Q.
Hi Dr Patel I have questions abt gaps in my front bottom and top teeths. I am currently living in Japan and am told by a dentdist here that because I have gap both up and down it’s suitable for me to have vaneers and the dentist here is advising me have the pastic ones fitted which are much cheaper then normal vaneers. However I am woerried it might be very good as its cheap. Can you please advise me on what would be suitable for me, I have gaps in abt 5 teeths in bottom and maybe abt 3 on top. Kind regards

is it possible to have veneers on the front teeth and can it be placed on gums that have receded

Monday, April 27th, 2009
Q.
Hi Riten, I was just checking out the mulberry website regarding the work you do. What I would like to know is, with veneers is it possible to place a) Only two veneers on the front teeth? and b) Can veneers be placed if the Gums have receded? I can’t have treatment for a while yet but my situation is is that after an accident, my two front teeth are two narrow for my mouth as the widths were filed down so they look out of proportion with the rest of my teeth. Instead of bonding them, my dentist filed them to make them look even and then I had braces to close the huge gap they made. It looks okish but I’d rather my front teeth be wider again. What I would like to know is if I got my orthodontist to space the front teeth so they are back to the width framework they were originally, can two veneers be placed to close the gap and get them reverted back to how they were? Trouble is though, the gums have receded slightly on the fronts so don’t know if that would be a hinderance. My teeth are perfectly straight, except for the narrow fronts and I have a maryland bridge for a missing canine, but I don’t really want 4 veneers as i’d then have to have an implant too. I can send you a photo if you wish of the fronts to show you what I mean but am greatly interested in your professional opinion. Thanks

Thank you very much for your answer to my question regarding veneers

Friday, April 24th, 2009
Q.
Dear Dr Solanki, Thank you very much for your answer to my question regarding veneers which were very uncomfortable, and the difficulty with the dentist refusing to listen. I would just like to let you know that I had the veneers redone by a cosmetic dentist, and also got most of my money back from the dentist who fitted the veneers, so everything is well now. Thank you once again.

i live on the costa del sol andrequire do you think crowns are better than veneers

Tuesday, April 21st, 2009
Q.
I live on the Costa del Sol andrequire extensive dental treatment including a number of dental implants. One clinic has quoted me a cost of 1600€ per implant. Another 900€ per implant. Is there any specific reason for such a differencein the price? I have had a consultation with the surgeon at one of the clinics who will carry out 2 extractions and insert 2 implants on the same day. Is this a recommended practice? in addition I wanted a number of porcelain veneers because my upper front teeth have been filled many times and now look unsightly. However I am being advised not to have veneers but instead to have 10 zirconia crowns at a cost of 580€ per crown. Do you think crowns are better than veneers. I also understand that prior to having the crowns I must have route canal fillings of all my teeth. Please advise.

would my teeth look more natural with composite veneers than having porcelain veneers

Tuesday, April 21st, 2009
Q.
My dentist suggested that my teeth would look better with composite veneers. He prefers these to porcelain as they do not involve the lab and he says they give a good result. I am concerned about how long they would last and about potential staining. They only cost £90 per tooth. I am undecided, can you offer me any advise. Thank you

i am not happy with the porcelain veneers fitted am i legally required to continue payment

Tuesday, April 21st, 2009
Q.
Hi. I recently had 6 upper porcelain veneers fitted. I am not happy with them. They are extremely uncomfortable, and the dentist is refusing to believe this. My lips are straining so much, it looks like I will have to go to another dentist for them to be adjusted or possibly redone. I am paying monthly on a finance plan. Considering that the dentist is refusing to listen to me, am I legally required to continue with the payments? I would much prefer to visit a dentist who is willing to listen to me. Something has to be done as I am far too uncomfortable. What would happen if I simply stopped the payments and sought another dentist? I would be grateful for any advice. Thank you
