is it possible to have veneers on the front teeth and can it be placed on gums that have receded

Q. Hi Riten, I was just checking out the mulberry website regarding the work you do. What I would like to know is, with veneers is it possible to place a) Only two veneers on the front teeth? and b) Can veneers be placed if the Gums have receded? I can’t have treatment for a while yet but my situation is is that after an accident, my two front teeth are two narrow for my mouth as the widths were filed down so they look out of proportion with the rest of my teeth. Instead of bonding them, my dentist filed them to make them look even and then I had braces to close the huge gap they made. It looks okish but I’d rather my front teeth be wider again. What I would like to know is if I got my orthodontist to space the front teeth so they are back to the width framework they were originally, can two veneers be placed to close the gap and get them reverted back to how they were? Trouble is though, the gums have receded slightly on the fronts so don’t know if that would be a hinderance. My teeth are perfectly straight, except for the narrow fronts and I have a maryland bridge for a missing canine, but I don’t really want 4 veneers as i’d then have to have an implant too. I can send you a photo if you wish of the fronts to show you what I mean but am greatly interested in your professional opinion. Thanks

A. I would really need to see you before I can give you any definitive options.  I carry out a lot of orthodontics to move the teeth before cosmetic work.  If your teeth are a little narrow they could be kept a little spaced so you could then have veneers to fill the spaces.  If you are thinking about this you must talk to your orthodontist so he / she can move your teeth to the correct places.  You are more than welcome to send me a photo.
