I have two molars that are showing signs of fracture

Monday, November 3rd, 2008
Q.
I have two molars that are showing signs of fracture. My dentist wants to put a silver or “composite” crown on each one but the procedure of drilling away a good portion of the teeth is upsetting to me. Is there a bonding procedure that will serve the same purpose- that is, hold the tooth together to prevent it breaking completely?

I have a gold crown that was installed several years ago

Monday, November 3rd, 2008
Q.
I have a gold crown that was installed several years ago. I then had to have a root canal through the crown a couple of years ago. I always had a small puss pocket that would manifest itself now and then on the outside of the tooth next to the exterior gum line. Now it seems the area under the cap has rotted out next to the exterior gum line and there is a small indentation too where I believe the puss pocket used to be. What should I do? Is my dentist a flake, or what?? I need a second opinion on what to do now. Thanks

on an old root canal treated tooth and that no NHS

Thursday, October 30th, 2008
Q.
I am informed that I need an apicoectomy on an old root canal treated tooth and that no NHS Dentist can perform it also the local Dentistry Hospital can not perform it. Questions: Is the treatment really going to cost £500? What is the cost or is it a lottery? Where can I find a private dentist who is able to offer this specialist treatment without telephoning every entry of yellow pages? Why is it that an NHS dentist can’t perform the treatment but a private one can afterall they all have the same training ?

Tooth not hurting but playing havoc with immune system. Shall i keep it or remove it is the question?? no teeth in front of it. Is it possible to have dentures if I do remove tooth. one of my back teeth has broken down to the gum

Wednesday, October 22nd, 2008
Q.
One of my back teeth has broken down to the gum. I do not have any pain but my dentist insists on root canal treatment in order to fit a post for a crown. Do I really need root canal treatment or can the tooth be built up to fit a crown?

crown or teeth whitening after root canal

Wednesday, October 22nd, 2008
Q.
Hi, I am only 16 years old and about 6months ago i underwent a root canal treatment on one of my bottom-front teeth. I am really disappointed at the unsightly look of the tooth, as it has gradually darkened over this period. My dentist recommended me to get a crown, but only when i am around 20 years old. I am at a loss at what to do as i want to ‘fix’ the tooth immediately, but i am scared of the drawbacks of fitting a crown in now. Can you please give me any advice?

I fell flat on my face at the weekend and have broken two of my top front teeth

Wednesday, October 22nd, 2008
Q.
I fell flat on my face at the weekend and have broken two of my top front teeth. I went to my dentist today and because one of them only has a small peice of tooth left in the gum and is quite painful she has said that I need a root canal and then it will need to to capped. She states that there is nothing they can do as a temporary fix and my first appointment for the root canal is 2 weeks away and then I will have to wait another two weeks for the trestment to be completed. The other tooth is slightly longer and she thinks that she can just fill it which concerns me as there will be a lot more filling than tooth and as it is my biting tooth Im worried the filling may fall out all the time and look a bit rough. Id rather pay more and have another cap or do you think a filling would surfice? The last thing I want is a dodgy job done, I want to look like I did before the fall! Is it true that there is no temporary measure they can do as I cant really have a month of work and there is no way I can go out in public like this!

what are the signs of a failed root canal treatment

Monday, October 20th, 2008
Q.
What are the signs of a failed root canal treatment – I have been advised that a 3rd canal in my tooth cannot be located (lower Molar 6) Part of the remaining tooth is totally black – can this be disguised with the permanent filling I`m to go back for in 6 weeks time – (why do I have to wait so long with a temporary filling – (no discomfort no pain ) Many Thanks for your time

how long does Root Canal Treatment last

Sunday, October 19th, 2008
Q.
I have done Root Canal Treatment about 13 years ago and about 6 years ago, my filling came out. I had the tooth to be fill up again by a dentist. However recently I started to have pain again and had my tooth checked by another dentist. The dentist took an X-ray of my teeth and from the x-ray, it indicates that my tooth that was treated with RCT had little swelling, hence caused my tooth aching again and the pain was unbearable at times. The dentist advised me to have another RCT treatment again. I was wondering isnt it RCT treatment can last life time? Your advise is highly appreciated. Thank you.
