I have a gold crown that was installed several years ago

Q. I have a gold crown that was installed several years ago. I then had to have a root canal through the crown a couple of years ago. I always had a small puss pocket that would manifest itself now and then on the outside of the tooth next to the exterior gum line. Now it seems the area under the cap has rotted out next to the exterior gum line and there is a small indentation too where I believe the puss pocket used to be. What should I do? Is my dentist a flake, or what?? I need a second opinion on what to do now. Thanks

A.

My first impression is that the tooth has a very poor chance of surviving. You may nee to think about replacement options.
I would be happy to have a look & give a clinical opinion.

Hello,
I was recently obliged to have a bottom far rear molar tooth root canal treated, but when I went to an NHS dentist afterwards for a crown he told me that wouldn’t be necessary for six months.
Now I read that uncrowned root canal teeth are at risk of fracturing especially with a heavy bite like mine.
What is your opinion given that I would be hard pushed to finance private crown treatment having already laid out, what for me is a very large sum of £560 for the canal work.
Also, after four weeks the treated tooth is still sensitive to the touch (though no actual toothache as such). Is this a cause for concern?
Thanks for your advice
