what are the signs of a failed root canal treatment

Q. What are the signs of a failed root canal treatment – I have been advised that a 3rd canal in my tooth cannot be located (lower Molar 6) Part of the remaining tooth is totally black – can this be disguised with the permanent filling I`m to go back for in 6 weeks time – (why do I have to wait so long with a temporary filling – (no discomfort no pain ) Many Thanks for your time

A. There is no general requirement for a six week wait I suspect it may be down to appointment availability.
Most lower first molars have a very predictable root paatern based on 3 canals in rare cases canals can be fused. I believe it was suggested to be more common in south american & mongolian groups.
It should be possible to either remove the internal discolouration or to mask it.

I have had an apicetomy on my tooth 2nd from what was my wisdom tooth on bottom left. It has a puss pocket(I know gross) that is draining. It’s not giving me pain all the time. Should I have my tooth pulled or can it be saved? I’ve already spent over $1500.00 on this tooth and now the dentist said sorry it didn’t work, you have to pull it and throw it in the trash!!!! REALLY Can you please help me? Very desperate for an answer in NC.
