i am bothered by the black triangle between my two front teeth what would you suggest?

Sunday, April 19th, 2009
Q.
I have a problem with receding gums – mostly on my upper 8 front teeth. I have recently undergone root planing treatment for gum disease, which is now under control. My dentist said that due to the width of the recessions, gum grafting would not be an option to cover the areas. I have read about a removable gingival prosthesis, but am unable to find informtion on this. In particular, I am bothered by the black triagle between my two front teeth. Other than this gum problem, my teeth are very healthy. What would you suggest?

i have an eating disorder bulimia and my gum are receding can you please help me

Sunday, April 19th, 2009
Q.
Hi, I have an eating disorder anorexia/bulimia I have been self inducing myself to throw up for about 3 years… I know that this causes acid to basically deteriorate my insides.. but I for some reason think that what I have in my mouth is mouth cancer and not from the acid how do i know the difference.. I would like reassurance that its just the acid and not the C word so i can stop convincing myself that I’m dying so i can stop being so stressed about having something i do not so i can stop throwing up and finally start the healing process.. what is in my mouth is the front bottom teeth one front bottom tooth at gum line is receding and has a couple sores around it, it hurts, and i already have a chipped front tooth, also the back of my mouth where there is free space behind my last set of teeth seems to be raw but dry and cracked.. please i am begging to know what you think…i know i need professional help but your input and time taken to respond would be greatly be appreciated… thank you..

I have a gum disease which is the best possible option extracting my teeth?

Sunday, April 19th, 2009
Q.
Hi After years of suffering a severe irrational fear of dentist, I have finally worked up the courage to go for an appointment. After an initial consultation and x-rays, I have returned today to be told that all of my top teeth need to be removed and I will need a denture. I am only 28 years old and openyl admit to having neglected my teeth in an apalling way. This is my own fault but my dentist didn’t really explain things well as I think she could tell I was excessively nervous. She mentioned that my teeth around the roots and in the upper gum are inflamed, infected and decayed. Doe this mean I have gum disease and that extracting the teeth is the best possible option? I am at a point where I am more embarassed about my inability to smile in front of people than I am concerned about my fear of the dentist. Please can you offer any advice? I have considered cosmetic dentistry or implants but read that implants can only sometimes be fitted at the same time as the rod that goes into the gumline and finaning this would be an issue fo rme. Thank you so much in advance for taking the time to reply

my teeth are very sensitive and gums appeared to be shrunk what can i do?

Saturday, April 18th, 2009
Q.
Last year during a routine check up, my dentist told me my gums are not attached to my teeth correctly. Recently my teeth have become very sensitive and little gaps have appeared at the top of my gums as if they have shrunk. What can I do? I am so scared I will lose my teeth. I don’t want to smile at the moment and am very self-conscious.

is their anyway to replace or fill in the missing enamel where the dentine is exposed

Saturday, April 18th, 2009
Q.
Yes im 20 years old and in the past 2-3 years the enamel on the top of my teeth (near the gumline) has slowly be dissappearing. i believe its called the DENTINE that is exposed. its not bad and there not that sensitve at all. my question is, is their anyway to replace or fill in the missing enamel where the dentine is exposed. instead of getting veners. and could this be cause by some kind of calcium definecy? my mother was a calcium producer and my sisters teeth when she was born all had to be cap with silver. i was wondering if mine my have started in my later years? i havent had insurence for about 6 years so thats way i havent went to dentist. ive been brushing twice a day, no acidic drinks except gatorade 2 and water, and using crest enamel protection products. please and thank you

Do you offer any treatment for the discolouration of gums? There is a treatment available in the USA but I am not aware of this in the UK.

Could the treatment for gum disese be done on the NHS

Thursday, April 16th, 2009
Q.
Hi One of my teeth is loose (next to the front ones) and I have decide to investigate the possibility of getting an implant. I attended a clinic for an initial consultation with examination and CT scan. I have been told by the consultant that I have some gum disese and pocketing which requires treatment first. I was advised that I would need three 1 hour sessions with the peridontist and that each session would costs £240. What exactly would this work entail to cost so much (is this reasonable)? Could using products like corsodyl help clear up the gum disese? Could this be done on the NHS? Also, should I receive a treatment plan in advance of any treatment? Nothing like that was discussed and I really felt pressured. Thanks
