i suffer from peridontal gum disease would i be suitable for dental implants

Q. Although I have always attended the dentist I am unfortunate to suffer from peridontal gum disease and have lost a few teeth and now I have to have my left front porcelain crown removed because my tooth root is bad. Please I really hate the part dentures that I have fitted especially the lower left and right teeth with the metal clips that hold them in place would I be a suitable for implants?

A. Patients with periodontal disease require a full assessment prior to considering implants, in case the disease affects the long-term stability of the implants. If you oral hygienie is good and the remaining teeth stable then I would recommend a ct scan of the jaws to measure the exact amount of bone availabe prior to using implants to replace the partial denture. In some cases where the periodontal disease is aggresive we remove the remaining teeth and place a full implant supported bridge before the bone is lost around the remaining teeth. You need to find an experienced implantologist before embarking on the treatment.
