My Bridge Is Loose And I’m Scared I’ll Lose Two Teeth. What Options Are There To Replace Them?

Tuesday, January 14th, 2014
Q.

Hi. I have a bridge at moment that as been in 23 years. It’s 4 teeth attatched to 2 capped teeth, and they have now got tooth decay and it’s been recomended that I take them out and have a denture. I’m not happy with a plate but what options are there and could you tell me the cost of other treatments please. The bridge is very loose and I’m scared of eating now in case it falls out. The teeth are at the front upper and I’ve been told the 2 teeth the bridge are attached to need to come out and I’m very scared.

Do I Qualify For NHS Cosmetic Dental Treatment With A HC3 Certificate?

Friday, December 20th, 2013
Q.

Dear Dr Gambroudes, I have a question:
I am an NHS patient with a HC3 certificate, and I have a problem with my teeth. I did my teeth in another country and they were done very bad. I have 6 missing teeth in front upper jaw and all my back teeth are broken.
The crown fixed in front was made from plastic and now is broken from more than 3 years, and I struggle every time to fix it with glue.
My question is: Do I qualify for NHS cosmetic help? I don’t want to wear a denture because of my age. Thank you and kind  regards.

After A Great Deal Of Restoration On My Teeth, I’ve Decided I Now Want Implants. What Is The Average Price For This Type Of Treatment?

Tuesday, December 10th, 2013
Q.

Hello Dr Moore, I have something that’s been on my mind and I hope you can help me with it. I have had a great deal of restoration on my teeth and would like to start having implants rather than continuously having further treatment to restore old fillings etc. I am 57 years old, look after, what is left of my teeth, fanatically. I have been forced out of work, ex military, age etc, and would prefer to keep the cost as low as possible. Could you advise me whether I can have implants and what would be an average price for this treatment? Many thanks and I look forward to hearing from you.

My Jaw Bone Is Not Strong Enough To Hold My Teeth In Place. Can You Offer Any Solutions To This?

Monday, November 25th, 2013
Q.

Hi Dr Bohara,

My dentist has told me that my tooth loss is due to the fact that my jaw bone is not strong enough to hold on to them. He suggests that it is hereditary as I do brush and bottle brush regularly. I have lost all of my incisors on the lower left and one tooth on the lower right with another tooth on the ‘wobble’ already. I have tried to wear a partial denture in the cavity on the lower left, but it lifts if I smile! It also makes me feel sickly. Can you tell me if there is a solution to this?

Many thanks for any advice you can give.

I’d Like To Know Of Any Other Material That Dentures Can Be Made From. My Plastic Denture Makes Me Gag.

Monday, November 18th, 2013
Q.

Hi I have really bad stage of gum disease and I just can’t bring myself to go to the dentist to have them removed the thought of false teeth worries the life out of me I’m not sure how I would get on with them, I already have a partial denture which I have had for three years and have never got used to it, as soon as I put them in my mouth I just gag. I have tried sucking sweets, breathing in and out slowly but I just really start to panic. The hard plastic just feels horrible, Is there any false teeth that’s made from other material to plastic. Also what price do they range from and how do I find a really good dentist I live in my area?

I’m About To Have Most Of My Teeth Out Before I Get Married And I Want To Know If Anything Else Can Be Done Other Than Dentures Or Implants?

Monday, September 30th, 2013
Q.

I need most of my teeth removed as I can’t afford implants. Are there any other alternative options other than dentures or implants as I am getting married and my teeth are rotten and brown, I’m embarrassed to smile. I will have 6 remaining teeth, 2 at the top and 4 at the bottom. I have had mental health issues that prevented treatment earlier, I’m in a lot of pain and I need to feel confident and look good on my wedding day.  I get lots of comments and funny looks at the moment and it knocks my confidence back down, I am desperate to have a bit of confidence back and to control my mental health and I feel a nice, healthy smile would help me achieve that.

Hi, I Was Wondering Whether Braces Can Be Placed Over A Maryland Bridge?

Thursday, September 5th, 2013
Q.

Hello, I was wondering if you could help me? When I was 12 I had braces to open up a space. This space had to be opened up in order to compensate for my missing lateral incisors which had to be replaced with dental implants. Now I am 18 and have been told there is not enough space in the roots to place the actual dental implant and I have been advised to have even more orthodontic treatment, I am just wondering if the braces can be placed over the Maryland bridge I currently have and also how long it would take to open up roughly 4mm of space for dental implants to be placed? Any response will be greatly received, thank you.

How Can A ‘Deep Bite’ Be Treated Correctly?

Monday, August 12th, 2013
Q.

Hi Andrew. I’m hoping you can help me. You see, I have, what my private dentist calls a ‘deep’ or ‘traumatic’ bite which is causing me all sorts of problems such as bone shrinkage (front bottom, not extensive) leading to loosening of teeth , broken and chipped teeth and receding gums. They don’t , however, seem to have any answers!
I don’t want dentures if it can be helped and I guess implants would be a problem due to bone shrinkage (and cost). Any ideas what could help me. It’s a problem that’s really getting to me know and as I said causing a number of big problems. If my dentist can’t help me right now then I don’t know  who can! I haven’t been referred to anyone either. Any ideas for me? Big thanks!

Can I Have Implants To Keep My Dentures In Place, Through The NHS?

Monday, August 12th, 2013
Q.

I have no teeth at all. I have lost them through poor hygiene after many years of depression and after being hassled to get them sorted I went to the local dentist only to have them all removed and replaced with dentures. I have been trying these for a while now and every time I wear them I get serious headaches up through my temple areas and across my fore head. I understand that using them takes patience and practice but no matter what product I use I still can’t eat any food with them in. as a result I haven’t been able to eat any solid food since I had them done. I understand also that you cannot have them on the nhs, only in certain circumstances. I am hopeful though that maybe you can advice me on my best course of action, whether or not I can have a minimum number of implants that will help secure these things so I can try to eat solid food again. The food problem is the most important thing for me at the moment but I also haven’t been able to leave my home since having them as it is causing me more problems than just not eating. I am desperate for any help/advice you can share with me. Thank you.
