I’d Like To Know Of Any Other Material That Dentures Can Be Made From. My Plastic Denture Makes Me Gag.

Q.
Hi I have really bad stage of gum disease and I just can’t bring myself to go to the dentist to have them removed the thought of false teeth worries the life out of me I’m not sure how I would get on with them, I already have a partial denture which I have had for three years and have never got used to it, as soon as I put them in my mouth I just gag. I have tried sucking sweets, breathing in and out slowly but I just really start to panic. The hard plastic just feels horrible, Is there any false teeth that’s made from other material to plastic. Also what price do they range from and how do I find a really good dentist I live in my area?

Hello and thank you for getting in touch. As a Clinical Lead for Same Day Teeth Uk and Changing Faces Denture Clinic (Warwick) I see a lot of patients in a similar position to you. We fully appreciate that the prospect of loosing teeth is very traumatic and try and make the process as straight forward and simple as possible. There are a lot of options available to you with regards to the design of your dentures and also the materials from which they are made and these are best discussed with the dentist or technician making your dentures.

Changing Faces Denture Clinic is a nationwide franchise that operate across the country and offer a free initial consultation. I would suggest finding the closest branch to you and arranging a consultation. They also have a comprehensive website that should answer a lot of your questions.
Long term you may want to consider dental implants to help assist in retaining your dentures or possibly replacing them altogether.
I really hope this helps. Kind regards, Marcus Gambroudes.
