Hi Mark. I have been told that I have advanced periodontitis. The dentist has said this is idiosyncratic and mentioned my body fighting it’s own bacteria? I know that many members of my father’s side of the family have had problems with their gums. He has also said I will gradually lose my teeth ( My bottom back 3rd molar is already loose) and would not be a suitable candidate for implants. I would like to know my options i.e bone graft etc. I am 37 year old ex-smoker.

I Have Advanced Periodontitis. What Are My Options Regarding A Bone Graft For Implants?
Friday, July 11th, 2014Dental Implants Are Financially Out Of My Reach. Is There Any Way I Can Get My Smile Back?
Friday, June 20th, 2014I Am 45 years of age and I lost a lot of my teeth through neglect. So I decided to have a mass extraction of about 18 teeth in one go under general anaesthetic through the NHS. I was then given a set of dentures from the NHS. The only time I wear them is when I go to the supermarket twice a week. I have spoken to my dentist about implants but they are financially out of my reach. I have read about your teaching position with the Royal College of Surgeons and I was just wondering if you are looking for potential patients to demonstrate your technique? Thank you.
I Have Been Unable To Wear My Partial Denture Due To Gum Recession. I Have No Idea Of Where To Turn To.
Tuesday, June 17th, 2014Hello Mark, I wonder if you can advise me. Approximately two years ago I had two dental implants fitted, one either side of the lower jaw to hold a partial denture. I have been unable to wear the denture for quite a while due to really bad gum recession on one side. The dentist who fitted the implants has since been struck off by the Dental council so I have no idea where to turn to? The lower part of the implant is on show by quite a large amount as the gum has gone and it is tender at times but the implant isn’t loose. Also the denture doesn’t lock on to the implants. Many thanks, any advice would be appreciated.
I Don’t Want To Rubbish Teeth. Can You Give Me A Rough Price For A Full Set Of Dental Implants?
Thursday, May 22nd, 2014Hi,
I don’t want to mess about with my rubbish teeth any more, can you please give me a rough price of a full set of screw in teeth? I cannot use a denture, I’ve been down that route before and it just makes me gag. The teeth I have are too spaced apart, most are sensitive and I have fillings that are yellow! My children refer to my teeth as dead mans teeth! If you can give me a rough price so I will then know how to proceed.
Many thanks.
My Dentist Said I No Longer Have Enough Bone For Dental Implants. Could You Give Me Second Opinion, Please?
Friday, April 25th, 2014Hello Andrew. I hope you can help me with my enquiry. When I was around the age of 13 I had an accident. I knocked my two front teeth out. I was told at the time I needed to wait whilst I was 18 to have dental implants and was given a denture to use in the meantime.
I have been saving the money, I am now 19 and recently went to a dental implant surgeon based where I live. I explained what had happened I got sent for a CT scan and it shows that I have hardly any bone their, the dentist said he doesn’t think I should do it, as the implants may look stupid. Could you give me a second opinion please? Thank you for your time.
Hello. I Would Like To Know How Long It Would Take To Open Up Roughly 4mm Of Space For Dental Implants To Be Placed?
Friday, April 4th, 2014Hello, I was wondering if you could help me? When I was younger I had braces to open up a space. This space had to be opened up in order to compensate for my missing lateral incisors which had to be replaced with dental implants. Now I am 18 and have been told there is not enough space in the roots to place the actual dental implant and I have been advised to have even more orthodontic treatment, I am just wondering how long it would take to open up roughly 3/4mm of space for dental implants to be placed? Any response will be greatly received. Thank you.

I’ve Been Scared Of Visiting A Dentist Since I Last Had Dental Surgery. What Can Be Done To Calm Me Down?
Thursday, January 23rd, 2014Hi Dr Hughes, after a really scary experience I had with a dental surgery in my Twenties, I’ve had really bad teeth and have had a gap in the front offset to my left for some years, which I have never had it looked at or replaced. After reading a lot about bridge options I’m now too scared to see a dentist because of there condition, can you give me any advice and if there are now procedures in place for nervous customers. Thank you.
