Hi there, I’ve just been to the dentist (for the first time in years!). I’m lucky in that my teeth, gums, etc, are generally in good shape, but I do have a mark on my two front upper teeth which I’d like removing. The dentist was a bit confusing, talking about the treatment available on the NHS – vaneers underlined with metal which becomes visible after time? She said that crowns weren’t available on the NHS and that I’d have to go private, paying £310 for each tooth. However, I’ve been doing a bit of research and it would appear that crowns should be available, at the higher payment category, but would be of lesser quality to those provided privately. I’d like some advice on where to go from here – I’d obviously rather go the NHS route, but if the quality/life expectancy of the private crowns is significantly better, should I go this route?
