My teeth are starting to show gaps and little discoloured. how can i fix it?

Q. I have had bulima on and off since I was 15 years old, I’m now 31. My last appointment at the dentists was in Spain where they told me (after x-rays) that I had a hereditory disease which meant that the bones of my jaw would reduce over time. My teeth are starting to show gaps and are becoming a little discouloured. How can I fix all this.. or do I just lose my teeth over time? Kind Regards

A. It sounds as though you may have gum disease. Studies hav ehsown that gum disease CAn be hereditary, but you can also stabilise them with thorough cleaning regimes at home. If your gums stay healthy, then the bone level will stay healthy aswell.

Bulimia has affects on the teeth- acid reflux from regular vomiting can wear away the enamel on the teeth and break them down. Continuos health disorders such as bulimia needs to be addressed. I would advise that you consult you GP- who can advise you on what steps to take and local help groups.
To fix the teteh tat have become gappy and discoloured, you can have crowns, veneers etc- BUT you MUST stabilise your gums first.
