My Crowns Are Forming Wide Gaps Between Them. What Can Be Done?

Tuesday, May 17th, 2016
Q.

Hello, I have crowns on my front teeth both top and bottom. I had these done when I was abroad about 8 years ago. The front ones on the top are forming wide gaps between them. Is there anything I can get done without replacing them? I am not sure, but I heard that there can be splints put between them. If so, are these expensive? I do not want to have to replace them as they are very expensive. Thanks.

Would a Bridge Solve My Dental Problems?

Thursday, September 24th, 2015
Q.

I have six upper front crowns due to tetracycline staining. They are four years old. One of them has completely broken including the tooth. The others will probably follow suit so I wanted to have all six teeth removed and have a bridge fitted so I no longer have to worry about the next expensive disaster. Embarrassment too. Please tell me this is reasonable. I am 51 and allergic to several dental bonding agents too.

How Much Would Teeth Whitening and Six Crowns Cost?

Thursday, September 24th, 2015
Q.

Hi there,

I am looking to get overall teeth whitening and then 6 crowns fitted to my upper row of teeth. I am researching at the moment and wondered if you could help me understand what kind of price to expect? So far I have a quote for £5,500 but I think this seems very high so wanted to get some other opinions. Also, is there anywhere you recommend for this treatment in the Godalming area?

Thanks.

Can I Get Cheaper Treatment on Finance?

Wednesday, June 10th, 2015
Q.

Hi, not sure if you will be able to help?
For a couple of years now I have noticed my 2 front teeth are becoming crooked and it’s really starting to get me down. I was told as a child that I have too many teeth in my mouth and I think this is what is causing the crookedness now my wisdom teeth are starting to come through. Also the tooth on the right side next to my front teeth was filed (very badly) when I was younger and now sits at an angle like it’s been broken off.I feel like I have a really bad overbite, it has really started to knock my self confidence but, my problem is I can’t afford the money that my dentists are asking for? Is there any way I could have this sorted out cheaper or even on finance? Many thanks.

Am I Suitable for CEREC Treatment, and How Much Will it Cost?

Monday, May 11th, 2015
Q.

Hi, I used to have a wide gap at the front of my upper teeth, which was capped in the 1980’s. I have these 2 big teeth which are very noticeable when I smile. I’m very conscious of them, and rarely smile with my teeth showing now, only with my mouth closed. I’ve asked my dentist if I can have all my teeth at the top re-capped to look even in size, but they won’t do it. I’m thinking that I have another 12 years to work until retirement, and don’t really want to be conscious all the time. Would CEREC crowns be possible on my teeth, and how much would it cost?

Can I Have Implants Fitted Privately and Then a Bridge and Crowns on the NHS?

Wednesday, April 29th, 2015
Q.

Dear doctor. I have no teeth in the upper jaw and only 5 teeth in the lower jaw. I am unemployed and have been told that I can get a bridge and crowns on the NHS. Would I be able to have implants fitted privately and allow the NHS to fit the bridge and crowns? My parents are willing to help me with the cost of just the implants. Please help me as I have trouble wearing dentures. And I also have quite a few medical conditions. Thank you.

How Much Risk is Involved in Reshaping Overlapped Teeth?

Wednesday, April 29th, 2015
Q.

I went for a consultation for reshaping overlapped teeth. We discussed the braces option and C-Fast, but I don’t want to go through that. The cons were discussed. I would have to remove a lot of enamel and the dentist might hit a nerve that they can’t take responsibility for. If there were any damages, I would be charged to repair them. I think that If the dentist knows what he or she is doing, it shouldn’t be a problem, otherwise why advertise the reshaping of severe overlaps when there is so much risk involved. What do you think? Reshaping and crowns seem the best and cheapest option.

The Enamel on My Teeth Is Wearing Away. What Can Be Done?

Wednesday, April 22nd, 2015
Q.

Hi, I have a partial denture on my top front teeth but the enamel on my bottom front teeth is wearing away. They don’t look nice and I’m afraid I’m going to lose them. Is there anything I can do to A) make them look better and B) stop myself from losing them? I go to my dentist every three months as I’m on medication that can harm your teeth, but she has never advised me that I can do anything about the problem.Thank you.

Should My Crowns be Thicker Than My Natural Teeth?

Tuesday, April 7th, 2015
Q.

Is it normal for crowns on my two front teeth to feel and look thicker than my adjacent natural teeth? These are my second set of crowns. They’ve always felt rather bulky. They were done about 13 years ago. I do have an overbite. Could this be why they seem to stand out when I smile? I would like to have them replaced, however I’m afraid the look will not be improved. Both times these crowns were done by dentists. Is it better to go to a dentist who specializes in cosmetic dentistry? I am hoping that cosmetic dentistry has improved since my crowns were done.

Should I Be Concerned That my 3 Year Old Has Decay Beneath Her Crown?

Tuesday, March 10th, 2015
Q.

My 3 year old has 3 crowns and one of them is turning yellow. Should I be concerned that there is decay underneath? She doesn’t complain of any pain at all. The crowns were done at 2 years old and she had a fall in which this cap that is turning was resurfaced. Please give me some idea of what can be done, if anything, that won’t be a traumatic experience for a three year old, as she has been though a lot already. Thank you.
