My root filled crown is bit loose will i be able to have implants?

Q. My 4 upper front teeth are root-filled & crowned. I have had 2 apicectomies for infection in the gum – the last in December, across all 4 crowns. I have had one incidence of infection since then. One of these teeth has now become loose. What is the likelihood I will be able to have an implant & am I likely to need a bone graft? Thanks

A. Unfortunatley you are very likely to need a bone graft if you have had several apicectomies in this area. When this proceedure is carried out a window is made in the bone to access the root. If infection re-occurs the bone defect becomes larger causing extensive bone loss around the roots of the teeth. You maybe be very lucky and find the bone will in fill after the teeth are removed but i would prepare for a graft.
