Is it possible to have my gums repaired somehow and also have veneers?

Thursday, September 2nd, 2010
Q.
Hi. I have for fifteen years had a very noticable upside down V shaped split in my gum on my front top tooth. It came about following an absess which managed to split my gum and caused the gum yo recede. What’s visible is my tooth and what I assume to be part of the root. I’ve always been conscious of the problem and one or two dentists have mentioned referring me to a specialist but I’ve never taken them up. My front teeth now show signs of wear and the other front tooth has blackened following treatment of another absess. I’m thinking about veneers but am conscious that I would also like the gum repaired somehow. Is this possible (the gap at its widest is about 5mm and its about 7mm long).,

I really don’t want to wear dentures and I am considering other options, such as implants. Can I have these and how much would they cost?

I have a lower front bridge (approx 15 years old) and have recently suffered two abscesses under the bridge. I have been informed that the bridge needs to be removed together with the offending tooth with the result being dentures. I really do no want dentures is it possbile to have another bridge fitted? or would it have to be implants. Your expert advice would be very much appreciated as I feel really low about the prospect of having to wear dentures. I would also be most grateful if you could give me a ball park figure for these treatments as I assume they are not avaible on the NHS. Kind regards,

My mum keeps getting absesses which means her teeth are being removed, what is causing the abscesses?

Q.
My mother is in her 60s, over the last 12 months she has had abscess after abscess which have required teeth to be extracted to the point where she only has about 3 left. What are the possible reasons for this? Her dentist seems quite happy removing her teeth and not looking for an underlying cause. He is also not doing anything about replacements and she is now finding eating very difficult and the few teeth that are left are causing great discomfort to her bare gums. Please help,

Does my daughter need different antibiotics or is it necessary to remove the tooth?

Friday, May 28th, 2010
Q.
My 6 year old has had a course of antibiotics for dental abscess. It has improved but not resolved. Does she need different antibiotics or is it necessary to remove the tooth? Also she has decay in another tooth and the filling has fallen out. Could this tooth be treated with a crown. I have been advised to leave it as it is as it is not painful but is there a risk of further abscesses developing if we just wait and see? Thank you for your advice.,

Should I have a tooth extraction or the root canal treatment?

Tuesday, April 27th, 2010
Q.
Hi i have had several fillings performed on one of my molar teeth in the last 6 months (the last a deep filling) and have recently had an abcess. My dentist gave me a course of antibiotics and gave me the option of a root canal or extraction. However he stated that the prognosis wouldn’t be good if a root canal was was performed. I don’t really want to lose any of my teeth and feel that i have been ill advised. Having read loads of literature on root canals it appears to have a high success rate. Plus at the age of 30 would the rest of my teeth shift if iwas to go-ahead with a tooth extraction.,
