I have problem with sensitive teeth how can i get it done?

Tuesday, April 7th, 2009
Q.
My problem is sensitive teeth and it is really getting me down. I have visited my dentist twice and told her about it, she has taken x rays and done a bite test and nerve vitality test. She just recommends sensitive toothpaste. The thing is its specifically 2 teeth, my others are fine. The first sensitive one had a composite filling put on to repalce a silver one about a year and half ago. Its the right side upper back tooth. The filling caused nothing but sensitivity! I pur up with it for ages then eventually had it redone, which has helped but not 100% non sensitive. Also the dentist thought she saw a slight crack in it while redoing it, I think she put some desensitiser in it as well. The other sensitive tooth is the lower back tooth directly under the filling one. This is the odd one that the dentist cant find anything wrong with. It is sensitive most days to a greater or lesser degree. It is triggered by hot and cold and sometimes biting. Also since having this filling and onlay the other side I feel that my bite has never felt quite right since I get an aching in my bottom jaw at times too i think from the nerves in the teeth. The other sensitive one is the lower back tooth, directly under that filling

Tooth that was crowned 2 years ago is now paining

Friday, April 3rd, 2009
Q.
I had a crwon put on one of my back teeth about 2 years ago. It has been a little sensitive to temperature over the last 2 years but nothing too terrible. Last night I awoke with a toothache, it kept me awake until I took some ibuprofen. It subsides and I went back to sleep. However, it has been hurting me all day today. It has given me a headche and my jaw hurts. I have taken aspirin this tima and it did not work enough to ease any pain. I have just signed up for new dental insurance that will kick in in January but I don’t know if I can subdue tha pain for one month. What do you think it could be?

Dentist did not know which teeth had the problem and he did a root canal on 2 suspicious teeth, was this correct?

Friday, April 3rd, 2009
Q.
I had severe tooth ache in 2005 and i identified the tooth to the dentist although by the time i got there the pain was throughout my mouth. He took an xray but decided that he would have to root canal two teeth as he could not determine which tooth it was so he did both teeth as i was in so much pain to argue. Was he correct in what he said?

I have had an abscess for about 2 months

Friday, April 3rd, 2009
Q.
I have had an abscess for about 2 months. I was referred to an endodontist who established it wasn’t worth doing re-root canal treatment. I have therefore been referred to the hospital for an apisectomy. I met with the consultant yesterday who explained the risks associated with the procedure. He emphasised the risk that there could be nerve damage which could result in permanent numbness in my tongue, lip and cheek. It’s really concerned me and made me think I should just have the tooth extracted. However, he did say that the bone was still good. Is the risk of permanent numbness very high? It is a very large molar, bottom left, which is aready heavily filled with half a crown over it.
