what would be my best option for my broken molar route canal and implant?

Saturday, April 18th, 2009
Q.
I have broken the inside of a lower molar, the remainder of the tooth is mainly filling and seems secure, no pain but obviously a gap, one dentist wants to do an implant and route canal, costing a fortune, other says just leave it for the time being as no pain, what should I do?

can my cracked teeth be bonded or any other alternatives to fix it?

Thursday, April 16th, 2009
Q.
I got hit on my front tooth. I was told I needed a root canal and then I had something else done but can’t remember the name of it..they cut my gums open to see it was cracked or infected. I was told it was inflamed. I tooth is just killing me. What is wrong. I think he cracked it during the root canal. It hurts so much worse than it did in the beginning. If it is cracked what can I do. Can it be bonded. Or how to if fix this, I am in a lot of pain it has been almost 4 months since the root canal.

do i need an extraction for my broken molar back teeth

Thursday, April 16th, 2009
Q.
Hi just a quick question. About 6 months ago, part of one of my back teeth broke (molar) , it wasn’t a particularly a piece but i went to the dentist today and was told i needed an extraction, which i refused as the tooth gives me no pain at all, and it has a hole in. i would have thought through reading on the net that the course of treatment ought to be a root canal and a crown. i only just joined this dentist and to be honest she doesn’t make things clear or explain anything. i’d really like your opinion as i feel that extraction should be a last resort, not a first thought!! thanks so much. by the way i’m 26.

I wondered if it would be better to have a crown fitted after the root canal treatment

Wednesday, April 15th, 2009
Q.
I am having root canal treatment in January and wondered if it would be better to have a crown fitted afterwards. I have just had a temporary filing put in before the treatment starts which is supposed to relieve the pressure, but what I dont understand is how the pain will stop. Kind Regards

Can the root canal treatment cause the fracture in my root

Tuesday, April 14th, 2009
Q.
9 months ago I had cosmetic dentistry done on 6 of my top front teeth. I had one root canal, 4 crowns, and 2 veneers. After the root canal was done I had discomfort running down the front of my tooth whenever there was any front to back pressure on my tooth. It was crowned anyway thinking it would go away. My dentist now thinks I may have a hairline fracture in the root. We already redid the root canal once with no improvement whatsoever. There was a little bit of a halo effect in the xray at the tip of the root. She had thought it might be an overfill problem. I am going in tomorrow and I am afraid they are going to tell me that the front tooth will have to be extracted and an implant put in. Did the root canal cause the fracture? Am I now liable for costs to repair this damage? Also what is the procedure/recovery etc for a front tooth extraction and transplant? Thank you very much.

I am now to have root canal treatment will the treatment hurt?

Monday, April 13th, 2009
Q.
Hello, I recently had two fillings done, one in a middle tooth and the other in a back tooth. After 24 hours the back tooth was causing excruciating pain so long story short i got an emergency appointment and the back filling was removed. I am now to have root canal treatment done. But was wondering firstly if my dentist should have known that my root was exposed and that putting a filling on top would have caused so much pain and secondly if root canal treatment will hurt? please reply

can i go ahead in redoing my root canal treatment?

Thursday, April 9th, 2009
Q.
I had root canal treatment on one of my molars by dentist. It had 3 roots and the dentist was unable to clear out one of the roots properly as the root bent. After waiting for a few monthe for the tooth to settle down as it was sensitive he crowned it. The crown looks awful as it sit over the tooth and there is a slight gap I think and the dentist said I need to floss in case foods seeps into it. It’s about a year later and an abscess has formed on my gum. The dentist said he’ll ‘give it another go’ but I am not confident in him as he is young and I presume newly qualified so I feel like a guinea pig. Should I seek a Endodontist to cary out the treatment? Thanks

Is there any action I can take regarding my dissatisfaction with original treatment?

Thursday, April 9th, 2009
Q.
My white fillings in my two grinder teeth both cracked and fell out at roughly the same time and after a year or so i finally gathered enough funds to have them replaced as white fillings are only available privately. My dentist completed a refilling on one tooth but after a week the sensitivity was increasing not decreasing. Upon returning to the practice and advising the dentist of the issue an x-ray revealed that he’d drilled away at the tooth too much and used excess filling material which was pressing on my nerve irritating it and causing hypersensitivity. The dentist didn’t take any responsibility for this error and only offered a root canal as solution. In addition to this because i was not happy with the treatment offered and the first set of results, i still have not had the procedure on the 2nd grinder tooth. It has been roughly six months since the first procedure and in this time I have since visited 2 other dentists who have given 2 different sets of evaluations, advice, treatments and costs and I’m at a loss. The last dentist I visited irritated the tooth further and now i have constant numb pain in my mouth. I have had my confidence in dentists shattered but i feel like doing nothing will cause my dental health to suffer even more. Please advise if there is action i can take regarding my dissatisfaction with and the outcome of the original treatment and also the various options available to me for treatment. Please I am very anxious that time is not doing either the sensitive or untreated tooth any favours.
