Are crowns or veneers suitable for my chipped front teeth?

Q. My top two front teeth are chipped which would be more suitable crowns or veneers? Also i need root canal treatment in in one of these teeth would this be essential before treatment?

A.

Root canal would most certainly be essential before restoring these teeth. If a root canal goes un treated it will eventually get to a stage where no treatment can be done to save this tooth and an extraction will be the only option.

It depends on how chipped your front teeth are as to how they sould be restored. Veneers are a lot less invasive and are always the first option if there is enough tooth struction. If the chips are very small a composite build up may do the job. Composites build up are even less invasive than veneers and are a fraction of the cost. However they do have a shelf life of approx 2/3 less than crowns and veneers and will therefore need to be replaced approx every 5 years.
