i have a gaps in my teeth whether wearing braces would correct this is does it sound right

Sunday, April 19th, 2009
Q.
Hello, I have a question to do with gaps in teeth. At age 14 I had two teeth removed on each side (upper) to push back my teeth and wore braces for a while. Unfortunately I didn’t wear the braces for long enough and have ended up with gaps that are probably to big for veneers but I’m not sure, however I’m sure that they are certainly too small to warrant the work needed for a bridge. Also I do have a significant gap between my lower and upper jaw when I bite – I have been told by my dentist that wearing braces woud correct this and essentially help bring my lower jaw forward – does this sound feasible? Your response would be very much appreciated.

I wonder if Invisalign is suitable for me or not?

Saturday, April 18th, 2009
Q.
Hi, I’m adult and I have some awkward teething. I didn’t have it when I was a child but I guessed it became apparent case when I got older like last few years. My teething seems straight but my bottom teething row seems to be a bit forward than my top teething row. It is as if my jaw got dislocated a bit forward somehow! It caused me some difficulties in eating food like i couldn’t bite some food properly. I heard there was a solution which involved a jaw surgical (to take a bit of my jaw bone off so my jaw would be a bit smaller). I thought that was extreme. I wonder if Invisalign is suitable for this case, or not? (If not, what are other suitable options then?) Long question but many thanks for your kind helps!

I wanted your advice if Invisalign braces is the proper choice for my minor overcrowding

Wednesday, April 15th, 2009
Q.
Hi, I have minor overcrowding in my bottom right teeth and a 2 cm gap on my top left teeth. I wanted to go to my dentist and ask for Invisalign cosmetic braces. I am really self-conscious about my teeth and it affects my confidence. I wanted your advice if they are the proper choice for me and how much do they cost. I am uni student and have a budget of 1000 pounds to spend on this. Best Wishes,

why do I have to pay more money on keeping my gap closed Is this the usual practice?

Monday, April 13th, 2009
Q.
Hi, About a year ago I finished with Invisalign treatment that cost me $6400 for an overbite and gap on my upper teeth and a bit of crowding on the bottom teeth. After I finished my treatment, I had to pay an extra $100 dollars for bottom and top retainers. I have been wearing my retainers for a year now and I started realizing that my top gap keeps returning after I take off my retainer. This is extremely annoying after all that I have spent on Invisalign, so I called and asked my Dentist what I can do about my returning gap. He offered to place a lingual bonded retainer on my upper teeth for an extra $500 dollars. So my question is, why do I have to pay more money on keeping my gap closed when I paid such an exorbitant amount on Invisalign to have the problem taken care off. Is this the usual practice for all Dentists?

I want to have a perfect smile so which one will be the good option veneers or invisiline

Monday, April 13th, 2009
Q.
I am fed up with my smile. I have too many gaps. My front teeth are gapped the 2 teeth next to the front teeth are missing instead they are fangs and theres a gap between them and the front 2 teeth and theres a gap after the fangs. A total of 5 gaps. One of the gaps on the far right looks like a whole tooth is missing. I don’t know what to do since I’m missing those 2 teeth that should be next to my 2 front teeth and I would like something to be done fast! The cost isn’t a problem. Braces take to long. Veneers seem nice but since I’m missing teeth will it be ok? And some veneers look too fat or the top looks a little spaced out from the gums. And aren’t my teeth going to have to be shaved to be thinner to apply the veneers? Invisiline takes too long and maybe a problem since my gaps are kinda big. What do you honestly think is the best thing for me to do? I do want this done quickly but I do understand the best thing may take longer. But I do want a PERFECT smile! Please help!

Would braces or invisilign really be needed for just one little tooth?

Sunday, April 12th, 2009
Q.
Hello Dr, On my top front teeth I have one tooth that is crooked and twists away from the other. What do you think would be the best course of action to fix this? Would braces or invisilign really be needed for just one little tooth? I thought of cosmetic contouring but I want my tooth to be permanently fixed and not have to worry about. I do have a slight overcrowding on my bottom row of teeth..but it’s the top I’m most concerned about. What do you suggest?

I have an overbite what would me my best option invisalign or 6 month smiles?

Friday, April 10th, 2009
Q.
Hello Dr Caplan I’m 27 and I hate my teeth, I visit the dentist annually for a check up I have no fillings etc. I have an overbite and some small gaps (bunny looking teeth at the front). I would like to do something about my smile but 1. Don’t want treatment to be noticeable or painful 2. I have ‘dentist anxiety’ so I’m not the most accommodating of clients, and this has put me off speaking to my dentist about. (to my embarassment Im a chartered Health Psychologist, but I suppose we all have our difficulties) I recently have had a gum guard made to reduce clenching during the night which was due to stress etc, I managed to get through the moldings ok, but wouldn’t like much more than that. I have looked at invisalign and the 6 month smile. Based on these facts, do you think either would be ok for me and based on my history which would be better (less painful and quickest)? I live in North Wales not far from the Chester boarder so any recommendations to particular experienced and accommodating dentists near the area would be very helpful Kind regards

Is there any alternative treatment other than having veneers?

Thursday, April 9th, 2009
Q.
My top front teeth are pitted slightley and have been for few years now but in the past month they have got considerably worse and have become stained. I am very concious of this but haveing spoken to my dentist before was informed the only thing they could do was give me veneers to cover them. I am very unhappy about this and do not want to have the procedure if there is an alternative. Other than the pitting my teeth are actually quite nice. I would appreciate if you could think of another alternative to veneers. Thanks

Is this true that will my bite really go back to normal once my treatment is over?

Thursday, April 9th, 2009
Q.
Hi there – I am currently undergoing my Invisalign treatment (I am on my second tray, i have had my teeth filed and have 4 attachments altogether), I have about 7 trays left for my lowers and about 5 for the uppers. The problem I am having is when I take my trays out, I cannot bite down properly anymore! The only teeth that touch when I bite down, I feel are my wisdom teeth, Even then it only feels as though the upper left wisdom tooth is touching my lower molar, therefore making it impossible to chew food properly. This is extremely uncomfortable and frustrating as I had NO problems with my bite prior to starting the invisalign treatment! I did mention this to my dentist but he shrugged it off and said it would be fine once my treatment is over. Is this true? Will my bite really go back to normal once my treatment is over? and also, would I be able to get my wisdom teeth removed during the invisalign treatment, as they are REALLY annoying me?? The invisalign platic trays do not reach over my wisdom teeth they stop at the molars. I want to get all 4 of them removed. Thank you!
