I have an overbite what would me my best option invisalign or 6 month smiles?

Q. Hello Dr Caplan I’m 27 and I hate my teeth, I visit the dentist annually for a check up I have no fillings etc. I have an overbite and some small gaps (bunny looking teeth at the front). I would like to do something about my smile but 1. Don’t want treatment to be noticeable or painful 2. I have ‘dentist anxiety’ so I’m not the most accommodating of clients, and this has put me off speaking to my dentist about. (to my embarassment Im a chartered Health Psychologist, but I suppose we all have our difficulties) I recently have had a gum guard made to reduce clenching during the night which was due to stress etc, I managed to get through the moldings ok, but wouldn’t like much more than that. I have looked at invisalign and the 6 month smile. Based on these facts, do you think either would be ok for me and based on my history which would be better (less painful and quickest)? I live in North Wales not far from the Chester boarder so any recommendations to particular experienced and accommodating dentists near the area would be very helpful Kind regards

A. Invisalign or 6 month smiles will be a good option provided your teth do not have serious wear.

Hello Dr Caplan I’m 19 and I hate my teeth, I visit the dentist annually for a check up I have no fillings etc (actually the dentist concluded that my teeth are in great shape). I have an overbite not too severe as he noted (bunny looking teeth at the front). I would like to do something about my smile but 1. Don’t want treatment to be painful 2. I work with people a lot and I really need to feel confident in my smile. 3. I want the quickest dental treatment Based on these facts, do you think either would be ok for me and based on my history which would be better (less painful and quickest)? Can 6 month braces, treat overbites in general also?

Hi there, my teeth are not what I would like. My top teeth and squint, areovercrowing slightly and I have an under bite that moves to the side. My mouth in general teeth in general are out of line. They didn’t bother me somuch when I was younger but the self confidence in smiling was there. I’venow started a job that I have to deal with customers everyday and the thought of smiling doesn’t work for me. I don’t get paid much so the cheaperand the more greater the results the better. Can you help ?

My daughter (just turned 11) has been wearing twin blocks since January, and is delighted to find her overbite has reduced from 10mm down to 3mm. On visiting her Orthodontist yesterday however we have been told that in 8 weeks time she will be fitted with fixed braces. Lucy is mortified, as she hasstoically put up with not being able to talk properly and looking somewhatstrange for a few months, and I researched alternatives and found Teenage Invisalign as a possible alternative. Can you tell me is something you offer, and if not is it worth bringing her for a consultation for Invisalign (adult?). She has been great with her twin blocks as the result shows, very conscientous and never refusing to keep them in/eat with them etc etc. Kind regards,
