Is there any alternative treatment other than having veneers?

Q. My top front teeth are pitted slightley and have been for few years now but in the past month they have got considerably worse and have become stained. I am very concious of this but haveing spoken to my dentist before was informed the only thing they could do was give me veneers to cover them. I am very unhappy about this and do not want to have the procedure if there is an alternative. Other than the pitting my teeth are actually quite nice. I would appreciate if you could think of another alternative to veneers. Thanks

A. Hi many thanks for your enquiry, the pitting sounds as if some of the enamel has been removed off the front surface of the teeth by some natural means. as opposed to conventional veneers you could have lumineers placed which are still made of porcelain but ultra thin to help maintain the naturalness of the teeth and means the preparation techinque could be very minimal. alternatively you could have the pitts covered with white filling material. the disadvantage to this in the long term would be they will stain and may need replacing.

there is no magic solution but i hope these sugestions help.
