Had the nerve taken out of one of my front teeth. Tooth now looking really grey, had a vaneer fitted but it looked bad because tooth slightly sticks out, looked like Nanny McPhee. Vaneer fell off. Is there anything else I could do. Thank you,

Are there any options to address my extracted tooth?

Monday, August 2nd, 2010
Q.
I have to have a tooth extracted and have been advised an implant is the best option. My dentist has informed me that the gum will need to be left to heal for about 6 months. I enquired about temporary solutions to fill the gap and am being told that this will not be possible so I will have a gap at the front of my teeth for at least 6 months! Please can you advise?,

Is it difficult to colour match with a crown when only doing one front tooth?

Monday, May 24th, 2010
Q.
I broke my front tooth completely in half when I was about 8 yrs. old (I’m 39 now). A root canal was performed on the tooth, and bonding was done to repair the break. The tooth has a grey look to it now, and I went to the dentist today to check into having the bonding redone. The dentist told me that he would never do bonding on the tooth to change the cosmetic appearance, because of the fact that I had the root canal. He said the bonding would still look grey. He suggested a crown, but I’ve read that it’s very difficult to do a color match with a crown when only doing one front tooth. What would you suggest?,

Are they responsible for correcting my denture repair?

Tuesday, April 20th, 2010
Q.
I recently broke my denture which replaces a front tooth I lost, I took it to my NHS Dentist who I appreciate gladly took a new imprint of my mouth and sent it off for repair under the free NHS Dental repair. However, when it returned and we tried it out it did not fit correctly and is noticably not in line with the surrounding teeth. She advised that nothing could be done as it had been repaired and the only option was for me to have a new denture made. At present I am unable to afford the £200 fee for a new denture and am therefore stuck with an ill fitting denture. I appreciate the repair service is free and am very appreciative of this but surely if the repair is not correct then they should be responsible for correcting the repair? Thanks.

Will my receding gums stop my dental bridge from being fitted?

Monday, April 12th, 2010
Q.
I had a front tooth extracted that needed to be taken out due to bone lose. The gum above the tooth also started to receed. The recession was not bad, the gum just started to pull away from the tooth a little. I believe the cause was harsh brushing. I now wear a flipper and hate it. I am going in in three days for a dental bridge consultaion. I want to know if my receeded gum will hamper my ability to be fitted for a bridge, or can a bridge be built to cover the bit of gum that has pulled back.,

I need to get my front teeth redone can you please advice?

Wednesday, December 23rd, 2009
Q.
Hello In terrible pain after a root canal yesterday morning hence i am surfing dental sites at 3.20am but that is not actually anything to do with my question. I just wouldn’t normally have the time to surf and ask the question! When i was 10 years old (1974) i had four second teeth removed due to ovvercrowding (I have a very very small mouth) and then wore braces – rings, wires, elastic bands – you name it for about 2 years having a terrible time moving house from town to village and village had never seen anything quite like my (scaffolding) metal mouth. At 13 years old i had beautiful teeth but at 16 the top and bottom four teeth had been pushed forward and overlapped. I was told this was because i didn’t have enough bone in my mouth, or more recently i shoudl have worn a retainer for longer? When i was 25 a lovely dentist upset by my being upset about my teeth fitted four crowns in my top teeth – they are stuck together – i think they are a bridge and two crowns and they looked great. He wrote to the NHS and also got them done for me at a reduced cost of £150 (NHS coughed up the rest because of the failure of all my orthodental treatment)Twenty years later they need doing again as my gumes have receded and they don’t look good close up but my question relates to my bottom teeth. These are small, overcrowded or pushed forward like my top teeth were, slightly chipped and generallyy don’t look nice. It is just the front bottom four – just like the top bottom four were before cosmetci work. Everytime i’m at the dentist – see a new dentist i ask if something can be done to imrove the look fo them and they always say it would be difficult and not worth it but if i’m about to get my upper teeth done at a small fortune i’d so like my whoel smile to look good and not have ugly looking bottom teeth. Could not he same work that was done on my top teeth (crowns etc ) be done to the bottom. I can’t see how veneers would work these teeth are tiny and overcrowded but of course i’m not the expert. Any advice, are all things possible. Thanks and sorry this eamil is sooooo long.
