My partners bridge came out should something else be used to regain his smile

Tuesday, June 16th, 2009
Q.
Hi My partner lost a tooth (front tooth) as he used to be a kickboxer and the nerve in the tooth got damaged. He has had a plate with a false tooth on it but this didn’t suit him. He recently had a bridge put in but has had it redone within two months of having it done and less than two months later it has come out again. He takes good care of it. When it has come out it looks like it has been bonded with the same thing that is used for fillings. Should something else be used? It seems odd that it has come out so quickly. He had gained confidence and was smiling again with his tooth but now after the second time of it coming out he feels pretty down. Any help or advice would be appreciated – I can send a picture of the false tooth and it’s fixings if you need it. Thanks

I had chemotherapy for non hodgkins lymphoma could drilling in gum be serious problem

Monday, June 15th, 2009
Q.
Is Bicon an inferior material for implants – I have told my dentist that another dentist has given my friend implants at the back of her mouth at a far lower cost than she is quoting. My friend is delighted with the work. However my dentist, feels that Bicon is only suitable for Back teeth. There is a big difference in costs (almost 50%) is it possible for you to advise me as I do not wish to waste my money. I leave in Kent? I have been happy with the work that dentist has done on my teeth over thirty years. I have quite a few crowns and two bridges which support two and three teeth? Seven years ago I had Chemotherapy for Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma and have been in remission since then. Could the drilling of my gum have any serious problems for me? I do hope you can give me some advice as I do not want to wast my money as I am sixty five years of age and cannot afford to waste my money because it is part of my savings. Sorry this mail is so lengthy.

I am 25, I have gaps in between and either side of my front 2 middle teeth please advice.

Q.
Hi, I had 2 front teeth taken out when I was younger. Either side of my middle two. I have had gaps for years and it has made me very depressed. I think the gaps have gotten smaller over time, and my two front teeth now have a small gap between them too, as if they have spread out. I have been reading about implants but this seams like it wouldn’t be an option as the gaps are now too small for replacement teeth, but too large for braces to pull them together. I am not sure what to do. I don’t currently have a dentist, this problem has been upsetting me for years I am now 25, and I have not been able to face the dentist since they took the teeth out when I was 19. Thanks.

I experiencing some discomfort in my crowned front tooth should i need an surgery

Saturday, June 6th, 2009
Q.
I have a post and crown on a front tooth that I’ve had for some 20 years. I’m currently experiencing some discomfort and sensitivity in the tooth although I’m told by my dentist that there is no nerve there. I’ve been referred to a specialist who suggests that there is bacteria in the root canal, and I need minor surgery to clean it up (at £500). The specialist says there is nothing to see on the X-ray, but this is the most likely cause. He says surgery is better than removing and replacing the crown and post, as they’re a very good fit (although not a particularly good match for my other teeth. I have three questions: (1) does this sound like good advice from my specialist? (2) What other possibilities are there if his diagnosis is wrong? (3) I’m concerned that the problem will recur after surgery. I’m in my late 40s and my gums are receding. I guess the problem has occurred because there are gaps in the seal between post and gum. Thanks very much

I had implant work a week ago i am now having a lot of pain now could it be an upset nerve

Saturday, June 6th, 2009
Q.
I had implant work (complete implant with temporary) a week ago because of a fractured tooth root and an abcess, was taking 500mg of Amoxicillin for 3 days prior to surgery (just finishing the course today), 2 days after surgery I started to have soft tissue swelling around my mouth not just at the operation site, which is now being treated with 1 week of Metrondiazole. I am having a lot of pain now with the tooth next to my implant, is it possible that the original infection has spread across, or could it just be an upset nerve, as it has felt a little strange and tingly since the surgery? Will the antibiotics i’m on kill any remaining infection or should I go back again before my post op check in 4 days time. I don’t want to be a nuisance to the dentist, but I just worry I shouldn’t need so many pain killers a week after surgery.

I am suffering from early stages of periodontitis after its controlled how could my teeth saved

Thursday, June 4th, 2009
Q.
Hi Im17, i live in northern ireand, i am currently suffering from early stages of periodontitis (self diagnosed via internet) diagnosed with gingivitis months ago. as my dentist believes it to just be the unfortunate territory that came with my orthodontic braces, but its not she gave me a gel toothpaste to control gingivitus corsodyll. But I know the incisor has worsened. the root is noe slightly showing and it is slightly wobbly too touch with the tongue, i doubt my dentist is going to take heed to my pleas for a CT scan to prove the loss of bone is so sever. i believe it too be aggresive periodontitis, but i am wandering after it is controlled how could my tooth either be saved or could i get restoritive measures to restore the loss of jawbone and get an implant. thanks for reading this. and if so could you possibly estimate and refer or possibly yourself to do the procedure. If so how successful could it be.

My molar needs to be extracted do i really need an implant? what are the disadvantages of extraction

Thursday, June 4th, 2009
Q.
My #18 molar needs to be extracted. My dentist recommended an implant. The oral surgeon said he could graph it for a possible implant to keep my options open. Do I really need an implant? What are the disadvantages of just extracting it?
