Which one is the best crowns or to extract teeth and get implants

Wednesday, July 29th, 2009
Q.
Hello, Dr. My dentist is wanting to crown tooth 31 and tooth 18. Tooth thirty one currently has a large filling in it, however, the filling is several years old and the rear part of the tooth is chipped off. Which I did not know. He advised me that after looking at the xray that the decay seems to be close to the nerve and asked me if I had experienced any pain? Which I have not. My question is ,I do not have 1500.00 dollars just lying around to put crowns on both teeth. Would it be best to extract tooth 31 and 18 and later have a implant put in its place or would it be best to try and get some sort of finacing for the crowns? I have had frequent dental work over the y ears since I was a child. I am 34 years old. I feel as if sometimes my dentist does not do enough preventive care and just waits for the high dollar jobs to come around to make more profit on my teeth.

I had my front teeth removed and replaced with flipper and It is driving me mad what can i do?

Tuesday, July 28th, 2009
Q.
Hi, I had my front left 2 removed on thursday they fitted me with what i think is called a flipper. It is driving me mad, eating and drinking is difficult and it’s making me feel constantly sick,it’s also giving me a burning sensation in the roof of my mouth, this is only for three months i have to decide what i am going to have next. I can’t really afford £2,000 for a implant and I don’t want my healthy teeth touched as I have had so many problems as I have been over treated in the past. Which option would you suggest I go for. I feel so miserable as my appearance means a great deal to me and at the moment my confidence has been knocked terribly. Who ever said life begins at forty, if i met them i would probably shoot them. Thanks for reading this

I smashed my front tooth would it be okay to have a crown now and do the implants later

Tuesday, July 28th, 2009
Q.
I have recently smashed my front tooth out and saw an NHS dentist as an emergency patient. The tooth has been cut back to just below the gum, and treated. I have been advised the tooth is now dead but what is left is still firmly in. The dentist advised getting a crown put on this for the next few years, during which the tooth will fall out naturally. I was told I will then need an implant and new crown. I was advised it is better to leave the tooth as is, without taking it out at this stage, and let it come out naturally over time. Then get the implant with new crown as and when this happens. Is this good advice, or would you recommend getting all the work done now? Its worth mentioning the tooth to the side of this has also been chipped, but not broken, so work will be done on this now. Many thanks for your help.

Q.
Is there a huge difference in the make/quality of implants used? Which brand is most widely used/recommended by dentists and why? The tooth concerned is the upper central incisor. Many thanks for your advice.

My teeth are completely rotten is my only option is to remove it all and replace with dentures

Sunday, July 26th, 2009
Q.
Im 24 and my teeth are completly rotten. I had my front teeth removed when I was 11 and didn’t have a denture fitted untill I was 14 so by that time there was only room for one tooth at the front. I have no confidence because of my teeth I only have 19 and even though I brush them often they are all bad. Is my only option to have them all removed and denture plates fitted what would the dissadvantages of this be? I have heard about implants by couldn’t afford them and I dont want to go for any length of time with no teeth. thanks

Ive tried dentures glue to fit my bridges but it keeps coming off do you have any suggestions?

Sunday, July 26th, 2009
Q.
I have had my bridge in for 14 years. It has just fallen off. I went to the dentist twice to have it put back on but it only lasted a few day them came off again. The problem is that the tooth underneath where the bridge fitted on is very sensitive. I have tried denture glue but the bridge keeps coming off. Do you have any suggestions? Thank you.
