i had two of my upper teeth removed what are the option for me to close that gap

Monday, June 1st, 2009
Q.
I had two get two of my upper teeth (left hand side) removed as I had a bad infection in my gum. They two teeth were together and have left quite a large gap. I am very aware of this gap and is beginning to have an effect on my self confidence. I treid a plastic plate but i was very uncomfortable with it. I’m getting more and more down about it and wondered is there anything I can do??? Look forward to your advice.

Ive got Nail Patella Syndrome and is there any permanent options other than maryland bridges

Saturday, May 30th, 2009
Q.
Hiya Dr Moore I’ve got Nail Patella Syndrome which has affected my teeth. I’ve had lots of work done on my teeth since I was a child. When I was 15 – 18 I had four maryland bridges put in which have lasted 15 years. The problem is one keeps coming out now and my nhs dentist keeps cementing it back in but it just keeps coming out again. I asked my dentist if they could do anything different ie implants as he said they use maryland bridges as temporary measures these days. He more or less said i’d have to go private as they would lose out on money if they did another type of bridge. What happened to patient care. It’s really distressing me now as i take pride in how I look and it’s embarrassing as it’s right at the front of my mouth. Any advice, can they do inplants or any other type of bridge that will be permanent. Many thanks for your advice. I couldn’t afford to go private and I don’t see why I should when I pay my taxes. The nhs in useless these days isn’t it.

I have pain in the tooth would the pain be caused by invasion? is any chance i can have implants?

Saturday, May 30th, 2009
Q.
Dear Dr Moore I have a crown(fixed bridge) on 22,23,24,25,26,27. The dentist told me this was the best solution since I have partial dentures attached at 22 and 27. Is this true? 22 is hurting, it had root canal done, the dentist who did it says everything is ok with the root canal and I have invasion of the biological width and I need gum grafting. Could the pain which started after the crown was fixed be caused by this invasion? If I am 56 and have osteoporosis is any chance I can have implants ? Thank you very much.

i have pain in my root canal teeth should i go for root canal re treatment or dental implant

Tuesday, May 26th, 2009
Q.
I had a root canal done on my last molar, bottom right side. Right after the root canal I started getting a constant pain on my lower jaw. The root canal was done in July 2008, I have been dealing with this pain for almost a year now. I finally went to see a dentist, he thinks that one of the roots was not completely filled in and I may possibly have a hairline fracture right in the middle of the molar. He’s advising I do a re-root canal treatment but if it is fractured, he would have to extract the tooth and insert an implant. What should I do? Root canal? Just extract my tooth and leave it alone or do an implant? Can’t afford to pay an arm and a leg.

My last teeth has been removed and my bottom dentures fall out if i eat anything advice please

Tuesday, May 26th, 2009
Q.
Hello Can you please help? I am 66 years old, and about 18 months ago I had my last teeth removed. Because I have Hyatis Hernia, I was having trouble with eating my food, so decided to see a dentist. He said I should wait a while as my gums will shrink, but because I was having trouble eating he decided to make a top and bottom set of dentures.I had no trouble with the top ones, but the bottom ones fall out if I eat anything, I have tried all types of fixatives, have been back about 4 times to have them adjusted, even went to another dentist. They both told me I do not have much bone in the bottom jaw, and that I probably wont be able to get a denture that will fit.I wonder if you can give me some advice on what to do. Many thanks

I was diagnosed with juvenile perionditis and now ive receding gums is there any thing i could do

Tuesday, May 26th, 2009
Q.
I was diagnosed with juvenile perionditis almost 10 years back. I recieved treatment such as scaling and splints and my teeth are much more sturdy now and no sign of the disease anymore. A few Dentists have told me that I pretty much have no hope with the after effect of the disease which left me with alot of receding of the gums. I’m very insecure about my smile and it does effect me mentally. I was told i’m not a candidate for implants or bridges because of the significant bone loss…is there anything I could do??? fyi…i’m only 28!
