Q. I had implant work (complete implant with temporary) a week ago because of a fractured tooth root and an abcess, was taking 500mg of Amoxicillin for 3 days prior to surgery (just finishing the course today), 2 days after surgery I started to have soft tissue swelling around my mouth not just at the operation site, which is now being treated with 1 week of Metrondiazole. I am having a lot of pain now with the tooth next to my implant, is it possible that the original infection has spread across, or could it just be an upset nerve, as it has felt a little strange and tingly since the surgery? Will the antibiotics i’m on kill any remaining infection or should I go back again before my post op check in 4 days time. I don’t want to be a nuisance to the dentist, but I just worry I shouldn’t need so many pain killers a week after surgery.
