Hello. I Would Like To Know How Long It Would Take To Open Up Roughly 4mm Of Space For Dental Implants To Be Placed?

Q.
Hello, I was wondering if you could help me? When I was younger I had braces to open up a space. This space had to be opened up in order to compensate for my missing lateral incisors which had to be replaced with dental implants. Now I am 18 and have been told there is not enough space in the roots to place the actual dental implant and I have been advised to have even more orthodontic treatment, I am just wondering how long it would take to open up roughly 3/4mm of space for dental implants to be placed? Any response will be greatly received. Thank you.

It’s very difficult to assess the amount of time required without seeing the whole situation in your mouth – it depends on many factors, for example is there any space behind where the gap is required, in between any of the back teeth?

It’s a very precise treatment and needs to be carried out by very competent and experienced clinicians. On average you’re looking at 12-18 months but as I say it depends. If there’s readily usable space available further along the arch of teeth then it could be shorter.  Hope that helps for now. Kind regards, Mark.
