Hello Dr Solanki I have a crown at the front, on the top, which constantly falls out. I am considering having a dental implant, and wonder if they are sucessful for everybody, as this crown certainly doesn’t want to stay cemented in.

I wondered if it would be better to have a crown fitted after the root canal treatment

Wednesday, April 15th, 2009
Q.
I am having root canal treatment in January and wondered if it would be better to have a crown fitted afterwards. I have just had a temporary filing put in before the treatment starts which is supposed to relieve the pressure, but what I dont understand is how the pain will stop. Kind Regards

Do I need to use my mouth guard when I run if when I run I dont clinch my teeth?

Wednesday, April 15th, 2009
Q.
Hello Dr. Moore, I just had a question about my crowns. I got crowns on 22 of my teeth because I had very bad stains, and I was told by my dentist that they are better than veneers because veneers tend to bend. He told me that he advises that I use mouth guards when I lift weights? Do you think that this is necessary? Do I only need one on the top when I lift weights or I need one on top and the bottom? Also, the job that I am in, we tend to run a lot. He advises me to run with my mouth guard in too. Do I need to use my mouth guard when I run, if when I run, I don’t clinch my teeth? Can I was my mouth with regular mouthwash (Listerine)? Can I consume alcoholic beverages fine?

Will the crowns get discolored as the time progress

Wednesday, April 15th, 2009
Q.
I broke my front teeth when i was 10 and had temp crown put in until i was 18 and mouth fully developed, i then had standard crowns put in and was happy with the look, shape, colour but after 10 years i broke one so decided to pay privatly and have them both replaced with porceline crowns (not cheap) My new crowns had been in a year before i started noticing problems. They dont sit right and have moved from original fitting, and they are now very very yellow from original colour?? I didnt think crowns could discolor but mine have and as i told my dentist it gets worse after i have been on a sunbed, is this right?? I asked him for replacements as i am so embarrassed but he said i have had them in to long before i got problems and he cant answer me as to why there doing this and wont replace them for free or at least discounted? I now dont know where to go or who to trust to have them replaced, im not a wealthy person and cant afford to shell out hundreds or more every few years if this is to keep happening? Many thanks for listening to my moans

Should i need a new crown instead of my existing one?

Tuesday, April 7th, 2009
Q.
Hello Dr, Solanki, I had root canal treated on # 14, and placed a crown. This was 3 yrs ago, then I had lump on the gum line and an other doctor found that the treatment wasnt done proplery and there was still a portion of nerve left.So the Crown was removed and the root canal was done again three weeks ago. Now I need to get a permanent filling and crown. Now my question is, is there a possibility that I would need an other crown and wouldnt be able to use the existing one. The crown is in good condition, and I havent had any issues all these years. It;s a porcelein crown with a metal inside.

Should i need to go abroad for cheaper dentistry?

Monday, April 6th, 2009
Q.
I’ve been quoted £9,000 for 7 Acrylic crowns,2 Veneers, 1 extraction and 1 Bridge (implant retained). Includes Study models, diagnostic wax up, panoramic x-ray and all the temporary crowns and veneers. How does this sound. Shall I do my homework and go abroad instead?
