my crowns are developing gaps between them

Sunday, August 17th, 2008
Q.
Hi, I have 5 crowns fitted to my top front teeth and the layout of them have been changing, like big gaps are forming and also they are protruding. I have had braces before and corrected the bite but my dentist said my top jaw is smaller than the bottom. I have since had problems with these crowns and I hate the way they look, I can’t talk or smile without feeling ugly. Also the crowns have formed gaps and starting to protrude. I don’t know why this is. Would it be because the crown post was already protruding so its makin it that way? My question is, it is possible to remove the crowns once and for all and have a partial denture instead? I have been struggling with my smile all through my life, I am 29 now. The last crowns and brace treament ruined my life and now I just want to remove all my top crowns, I rather be without them, thats how depressed it makes me

my teeth are grey and i need a crown replacement

Thursday, August 7th, 2008
Q.
I have a long standing now >20yrs old porcelain/metal crown, which has a minor fracture, leaving me with a sensitive front tooth, now temporarily sealed by my dentist. My teeth are in excellent condition, but have always been grey in colour (mother taking antibiotics during her pregnancy). I am female, now 36 and keen to get a replacment crown, hopefully technology has advanced now and I can finally get a really good matching crown and enjoy smiling properly. I have been advised that bleaching probably wouldn’t work on my teeth, so I think a crown is my only option..and I’d rather replace the one and not need to add crowns to more teeth for consistency. Can you advise me please, estimating the cost (very roughly range from – to if possible) Thankyou

my dental crown fitted over a year ago causes me pain

Thursday, August 7th, 2008
Q.
I had a crown fitted over a year ago which had to be filed down to eventually fit the tooth. It looks to be much too big. I had pain as soon as the crown was fitted. I have experienced pain on and off ever since. The first time I went back to the dentist he drilled a hole in the crown and took out the nerves and filled the spaces and then filled the hole in the top of the crown. I am now experiencing pain on biting, nerve like pain with cold drinks, and an odour when I touch the sides of the crowned tooth. I have a dark line at the base of the crown. I saw the dentist today and he says there is nothing wrong with the crown or the root canal work and has given me antibiotics for a possible infection. He says the tooth will have to be removed if the problems persist. I feel that the crown was too big for my tooth and has caused the problems. How do I go about getting a second opinion and what are your thoughts on my symptoms.

How much do UK crowns cost compared to Poland

Friday, July 25th, 2008
Q.
Hi. My wife has returned from Poland after some dental work. We always wanted to have a holiday there and she needed 4 veneers replacing so we combined the two. We had a fab time and the Polish dentist could not have been more proffessional. There is a small issue however with her 2 front teeth, and whilst the dentist gave a 2 year gaurantee, and has said he will happily replace them free of charge, im reluctant to continue as more flights, hotel bills, and holidays are involved, and if there was a further problem it would get too expensive, hence having the work done here. Anyway, the 4 teeth at the front were to have replacement veneers done, but on inspection the dentist suggested having the front 2 made into crowns as the teeth protruded. This was done and my wife is over the moon with her flatter 2 front teeth and now rounded top set of teeth, and the 2 teeth either side having the veneers replaced. After returning we have noticed in some light that the 2 front teeth have a sort of dark shade on them ? and, one of them looks like you can see very faintly the yellowish tooth underneath ? Is this possible with crowns ? do you see the tooth underneath sometimes ? what is the dark area that is apparent under certain light ? she is not 100% happy and i think they will need replacing, unfortunately adding to the cost. How much are UK crowns ? and is it possible to match them up to the 2 new veneers ? (1 each side)

Is a veneer better than a dark line on a crown will it look fake

Q.
If there is an incomplete front teeth , and a crown was put on it but there is a dark line near the gum that makes it look not good , is the veneer the best solution? will it look fake? is it durable? P

What sort of dental crown should I get for £1500 ?

Sunday, February 24th, 2008
Q.
My dentist recommends a titanium implant at £1634 for a missing incisor. He says this will also require an anterior crown at £1500. This seems expensive for a crown. What sort of quality ought I expect for this sort of money?
