Due to the large amount of decay most of my teeth had,both front teeth and back teeth on the top and bottom, I recently had work done to save the tetth decaying futher. The dentist which did this work said that my teeth would then need crowning to stop decaying futher and to strngthen them. However he also said i would have to wait untill I am 18 years of age due to my teeth still growing.He also said that due to a need for them that this was not a cosmetic matter. I was wondering when is it that adult teeth do stop growing, apart from wisdom teeth, and why I would have to wait the 4-5 months untill i turn 18. Also how much it would be likely to cost to have my teeth crowned considering it is not a cosmetic matter.,

Hi Dr Moore, I have decay on my upper right central incisor, this is behind (on the tongue side of the tooth, about 2.5mm big) Right next to it (my upper right lateral incisor) on the front side has a small filling lining up with the decay on the pervious tooth explained. I am seriously considering a crown/cap on my upper 4 incisors, and a lower lateral incisor. Going from right to left starting on the upper right lateral incisor, small filling high on the tooth on the left, decaying tooth from behind, perfect tooth, pushed back tooth. I also have a cross bite consisting of my upper left lateral incisor (pushed back) and lower lateral incisor (pushed forward) My main questions are; How much of a tooth is needed to obtain a crown? What is the likely hood of me being able to get this done and fixing my crossbite? Any guesses of the total cost? I fully understand that you cannot see my teeth and can only go off the description i have given you, but any infomation you can provide me with on what i have asked, or any roots i might wish to go down would be greatly recieved. . Further information just incase, I am a 25 year old female living in the UK, I am registered with an NHS dentist, I however do not like the way he works, the last filling he did on my tooth was sharp and just squashed on, needless to say half of it came off! I know the NHS will not do cosmetic dentistry, and I would prefere not to go back to the NHS dentist I have.,

Hello, I am due shortly to have a back tooth crowned. I have the option of private work or NHS work. Obviously the material in the former will be superior, but I have been told that the composition of the NHS one is some cause for concern and the word “cancer” has been mentioned.Can you shed some light on any known concerns among the dental profession? Hi Doc, I have had extensive radiation to my mouth and hence jaw for throat cancer.Prior to the radiation I had my rear teeth both top and bottom surgically removed.I now have 9 on the top and 10 on the bottom I have lost most of the strenght in my given teeth and have reconstructions done prior to have them all crowned. I have also had one root canal performed. What type of crowns would you recommend and do you think I could ask for a reduction in price for the quantity that is necessary? I should also mention that I suffer from “dry mouth” and am uable to eat as a normal person would. I am 52 years of age.,
