Do I really have to wait until I am 18 to have teeth crowned?

Q. Due to the large amount of decay most of my teeth had, both front teeth and back teeth on the top and bottom, I recently had work done to save the tetth decaying futher. The dentist which did this work said that my teeth would then need crowning to stop decaying futher and to strngthen them. However he also said i would have to wait untill I am 18 years of age due to my teeth still growing. He also said that due to a need for them that this was not a cosmetic matter. I was wondering when is it that adult teeth do stop growing, apart from wisdom teeth, and why I would have to wait the 4-5 months untill i turn 18. Also how much it would be likely to cost to have my teeth crowned considering it is not a cosmetic matter.,
A. He might be waiting for the gum line to stabilise or the teeth to settle after the large fillings are placed. with regards to cost you need to sit down and find out exactly how much it will cost you before you committ to further treatment.
