Is material of crown linked to cancer?

Q. Hello, I am due shortly to have a back tooth crowned. I have the option of private work or NHS work. Obviously the material in the former will be superior, but I have been told that the composition of the NHS one is some cause for concern and the word “cancer” has been mentioned.Can you shed some light on any known concerns among the dental profession? Thankyou,
A. I am not aware of any material used for crowns that is linked with cancer. Go back to your dentist to clarify the matter
