I Have A False Tooth With A Screw Which Has Fallen Out. Is There Any Type Of Dental Glue I Can Use To Keep It In Place?

August 26th, 2014
Q.

Hello Dr Hughes. I have a false tooth with a screw that just came out, but I pushed it back in myself. Is there any form of dental glue I can use to ensure it doesn’t come out again? I don’t want to go to a dentist. I need a solution so I can do it myself. I am retired and no longer have dental insurance. My tooth is in the front of my mouth and would be very embarrassing if it came out. I would not be able to smile or feel comfortable. Thank you for your time.

I’m Thinking About Having Dental Implant Treatment In India. Which Qualification Does A Dentist Require To Undertake This?

August 22nd, 2014
Q.

Hi Dr Gambroudes. I am 42 years old and I’m considering having implants and bridgework done. Is there a certain make or type of implant you would recommend that would last me at least 20 years? I am also thinking of going to India to have it done. What type of qualifications does a dentist need to undertake this treatment? Is there anywhere you could recommend and how long would the treatment take? Will a normal X-ray of my teeth be okay to send to a dentist so they can make some sort of plan? My dentist doesn’t have a cat scan or panoramic X-ray. Many thanks.

I Have A Calcium Deficiency. My Veneer Fell Off And I Need It Replaced. Could A Dental Trainee Do This?

August 22nd, 2014
Q.

Hi there. I am a model and currently receiving more job offers than ever, however my teeth will lose me work. Only yesterday I lost a veneer. I was born with calcium deficiency and my teeth have suffered greatly. I discovered a few years ago that I have a pituitary tumour, it has probably been there since I was a child and hence why I’ve discovered many problems that I’ve only found throughout my adulthood. I was quoted a few years ago from a dentist from York, who said they would give me a Hollywood smile for £2800, but even that I can’t afford. Here in the U.K it would cost around £14000 so my question is: Can I have work done by being a study for trainees? I have veneers, bridges, crowns and I’ve had major work done which were fabulous but that was over 18 years ago. Can someone help? I’m willing to travel….. Regards.

I Have Severe Periodontal Disease And This Affects My Confidence Greatly. Could You Give Me Advice On Which Steps To Take?

August 22nd, 2014
Q.

Hi, Dr. Gambroudes.  I have severe periodontal disease, most of my teeth are moving and some at the upper front have already shifted. I recently had some treatment from my local dentist and after doing an X-ray, we found out that most of the bones have eroded and it’s not looking good. Ive just started taking Doxycycline to hopefully save my gums. However, I am severely affected with the looks of my teeth and my confidence is absolutely down the drain. I hope you can advice me on what steps I should take.

Thank you.

I Am Terrified Of Dentists And I Have Tooth Decay And A Large Gap Between My Front Teeth. Could I Be Sedated Before Treatment Commences?

August 22nd, 2014
Q.

Hello Dr Patel. I am a mental health patient as I have schizo-affective disorder which is a mood disorder which means depression with a few traits of schizophrenia. I am terrified of dentists and I haven’t been to the dentist for quite a while. I have a big gap between my two front teeth and problems with decay. It really bothers me a lot but I am 40 now. Is it possible for me to be put to sleep in a hospital dentistry department and how are they going to fix the gap in my teeth? Thank you.

I’ve Not Looked After My Teeth. A Couple Of Teeth Are Rotten And Wonky. Should I Have Them All Removed And Replaced?

August 21st, 2014
Q.

Hello Marcus.

Okay so I’m in a pretty bad situation.

I’ve unfortunately not been taking care of my teeth for a number of years and due to this I have now got a couple of teeth that have worn/rotten themselves down inside my gums.
Alongside this I have pretty wonky teeth. So inside of my mouth is a disaster.

Am I correct in thinking I have 2 options. Remove the bad teeth through the NHS and then pay for a brace to straighten the rest or take them all out and get a nice shiny set of new teeth?

Part 2 of my question would be asking you how much this would cost. Am I liable to get this done for free as a 24 year old, unemployed graduate? Hope to hear from you soon.

Thank you.

I Had A Crown Fitted Two Weeks Ago. It’s Started Throbbing And Feels Sensitive. Is This Indicative Of Dental Infection?

August 21st, 2014
Q.

Hello Dr Hughes. Approximately a week ago I had a crown fitted. At first it felt heavy, but I thought that was normal and it would settle down. Two days ago the crown started to hurt and felt sensitive to touch. Furthermore, biting on it is out of the question due to the pain. There is also an intermittent throbbing sensation. I have taken pain killers and that has helped. Do you think it’s possible the throbbing sensation is indicative of infection? I need some advice regarding this. Thank you for your time.

I Have Protruding Teeth. Should I Opt For Braces Or Surgery To Fix This? Which Is The Most Effective?

August 21st, 2014
Q.

Hello Dr Moore. At what price can I get surgery for my protruding teeth? And is this the best way to do it? Will it look natural after surgery? What would be the maximum cost for this treatment? I’m a 21 year old girl and my teeth are protruding.  I feel very bad when my friends kid me and tease me. I need the best suggestion from you for my problem? What would be better a surgery
or braces for my teeth? If I opt for the surgery, will it change the shape of my face? Thank you.

As A Teenager, Will The NHS Cover The Costs Of Invisalign Treatment To Straighten My Teeth?

August 21st, 2014
Q.

Hello Dr Patel. I’m a teenage boy and I want to ask you a question that I’m not sure. If my mother is on social benefits, is it free to get Invisalign for me? I live in UK and I heard that the NHS can straighten my teeth for free. I don’t want regular braces as they are way too noticeable. Is there any other braces I could get to straighten my smile? Can you please help me out with this please? Thank you very much. I look forward to hearing back from you.
