How Much Would It Cost Me To Get My Discoloured Bridge Replaced?

March 6th, 2014
Q.

Hello Dr Moore. I have had a bridge for over 20 years, and it covers my 6 top front teeth. I’ve always thought they looked too big and false looking and now they are starting to look a bit discoloured which isn’t ideal. I am looking at getting them replaced. Would this be possible after so many years and what would be the cost of doing this? My own dentist always says there is no point, after all I’ve put up with them for so long but I am just not happy with them and I would like some advice from you if that could be at all possible. Thank you for taking the time.

My Crown Keeps Falling Out. What Can I Do If The Gap Is Too Small For An Implant?

March 6th, 2014
Q.

Hi Mark. I have a small crown next to my front tooth which I have had for nearly 20 years, which keeps falling out. I have been told the gap is too small for implants or screw in teeth. What are the options I have? If I have to keep it what is the best way of making sure it stays attached to my other teeth as it is very embarrassing.  It is right at the front of my smile. It has been stuck in with cements three or four times but they don’t seem to be able to secure it. Thank you for your reply in advance.

I Have Bad Yellow Teeth But No Registered Dentist. I Don’t Know Where To Start, Can You Help?

March 6th, 2014
Q.

Hello Andrew. I have bad yellow teeth and I am worried as they are looking really bad, I don’t have a dentist and wanted to know what would be available?
I don’t know where to start now. I have been told they don’t take on anyone who isn’t registered? It’s also very embarrassing to walk into a dentist with teeth like mine. They look like they are about to fade away, which can’t be a good sign.

Please help me!
Thanks.

I Have Been Offered Two Different Brace Treatment Types And I’m Not Sure Which To Choose?

March 5th, 2014
Q.

Hi. I’m getting invisible braces soon and the dentist has offered 2 types. One is the fast braces system and the other involves tooth removal & this is the one I’m not sure of & would like your opinion on please. I had a canine removed years ago (it was above the gum & next 2 teeth joined so dentist just removed it) the dentist doing my braces wants to remove the other canine as he’s saying I now have an extra tooth & it won’t look symmetrical. I’m not sure I want this though as it’s a perfectly healthy tooth & I don’t want to be left with big gaps. Do you think this sounds right? I hope you can help me by offering some advice. Thank you.

I Have A Severe Phobia Of Needles And I Am Very Nervous Before My Labial Frenectomy. Is There Anything That Can Be Done Other Than Injections?

March 5th, 2014
Q.

Hello Dr Moore. I hope you can help me as I have a severe phobia of needles and I have bad hyperventilating attacks whenever I see them coming near me or when they are about to be used on me. I have to get a labial frenectomy and I have braces and I am panicking about the needles. I read some people have to get 4-5 injections just to be numbed up for the procedure and I am very VERY nervous about this because I don’t want needles if they don’t have to be used and I am adamant about it. Is there anything else? Thank you for your time.

I Recently Bumped My Tooth Which Has Started To Wobble And Is Hurting A Bit. What Options Do I Have?

March 5th, 2014
Q.

Hi Mark, I’m 14, and recently I bumped my big adult tooth into something, it seemed a bit wobbly so I became sort of paranoid and began to wobble it. It gradually became looser but it’s not too loose. It’s also hurting a bit. Would I be able to go to my dentist and get brackets to support my teeth because I’m really desperate to get it fixed? I really want there to be another option so my teeth can stay in place. Is there anything I could do to stop in from hurting? Thanks, I hope to get some advice from you.

I Wonder If You Can Help Me. My Teeth Are Discoloured But I’m Not Sure My Fillings Will Whiten. What Should I Do?

March 5th, 2014
Q.

Hi Andrew, I wonder if you can help me. I feel my teeth are quite discoloured I would just get them whitened but many years ago I chipped both of my front teeth whilst on holiday. This was rebuilt by a dentist that morning. They were fine but I feel the bottom of my 2 front teeth are quite thin and don’t look right. Basically as the bottom of these teeth are not my own I’m not sure if they will whiten? Also one of my K9 teeth has a filling on the front and the whole tooth is very discoloured. I’m at a loss as to what my best options are and to be honest the very top of my budget would be £1000, could you advise me please?

What Would Be The Best Type Of Treatment To Close My Gaps? I Fear That My Teeth Will Continue To Shift If I Don’t Do Something About It?

March 4th, 2014
Q.

Hi Mark. My lower incisors have a 1-2mm gap between each one. The teeth are in good condition, not crooked, none missing and no chips. What would be the best type of treatment to close the gaps?
The gaps have become more and more noticeable over the year and I fear that the teeth will continue the shift if I don’t do something about it.
I have read about Invisalign and was wondering if I would be a suitable candidate? I would like to know how long it takes to work and if they need adjusting over time. I look forward to receiving your advice with regards to this.

I’m Concerned I May Be Exposed To Mercury After My Amalgam Filling Broke. Should I Have The Remainder Removed Or Covered?

March 4th, 2014
Q.

Hello, my good old amalgam filling just broke off. Having background in toxicology, I am pretty concerned about this situation. Looks like I have swallowed part of it, I rinsed off the rest. There is a residue of amalgam still in my tooth. Removing it can produce further exposure to mercury. Not sure if I am ready to part with my tooth either so my question is, if it makes sense to cover that cavity with composite filling, sealing the remaining amalgam? Can that be done without cleaning/scrubbing old amalgam in the cavity? Thank you.

Is £2000 Too Excessive For A Bridge? Is There Anything Else I Could Have In My Price Range?

March 4th, 2014
Q.

Hi. My dentist has quoted me £2000 to have a bridge fitted for (2 teeth). This seems excessive. He told me it’s not available on the NHS. I have a gap that is awful and it affects my smile and my confidence. I currently have a false tooth plate with 2 teeth on, but the teeth keep breaking off the plate. I can’t afford this as I only work part-time, I am a carer for my husband. Could you please advise as it’s really getting me down.
