Is £2000 Too Excessive For A Bridge? Is There Anything Else I Could Have In My Price Range?

Q.
Hi. My dentist has quoted me £2000 to have a bridge fitted for (2 teeth). This seems excessive. He told me it’s not available on the NHS. I have a gap that is awful and it affects my smile and my confidence. I currently have a false tooth plate with 2 teeth on, but the teeth keep breaking off the plate. I can’t afford this as I only work part-time, I am a carer for my husband. Could you please advise as it’s really getting me down.
A.
This does not seem excessive for a high quality bridge. In fact it actually sounds quite reasonable as it is likely to involve 4 ‘units’ or teeth. I would however query if you have any other options and maybe a different type of bridge or denture is available on the NHS (I am not familiar with NHS treatment). There may also be another option available privately – ask about a resin bonded bridge?

Very high quality dentistry, where a very skilled laboratory technician is required to make a prosthesis and where the best aesthetics are demanded, does become quite a costly investment. But it should be a worthwhile investment as the quality of the work should be excellent. Best wishes, Mark.
