Can teeth be added to bridgework later?

Thursday, January 7th, 2010
Q.
I currently have an infection in the rootof my eye tooth, taking antibiotics, my dentist has advised root canal or tooth removed. If I have tooth removed, is it possible to have a single false tooth. I already have a bridge on this side, so could another tooth be added to this or would it be separate.,

Can I have single veneer to fis fractured tooth?

Thursday, January 7th, 2010
Q.
Dr. Tennet, I have a fractured upper central incisor that runs horizontal across the tooth and has not separated. I have seen two dentists so far and one wants to place a porcelain veneer on only that tooth while the other wants to put bonding on the fracture line if I cannot afford to have veneers on both central incisors. Is it advisable to put on a single veneer to just fix the fractured tooth? Thanks for your advice,

I need to get my front teeth redone can you please advice?

Q.
Hello In terrible pain after a root canal yesterday morning hence i am surfing dental sites at 3.20am but that is not actually anything to do with my question. I just wouldn’t normally have the time to surf and ask the question! When i was 10 years old (1974) i had four second teeth removed due to ovvercrowding (I have a very very small mouth) and then wore braces – rings, wires, elastic bands – you name it for about 2 years having a terrible time moving house from town to village and village had never seen anything quite like my (scaffolding) metal mouth. At 13 years old i had beautiful teeth but at 16 the top and bottom four teeth had been pushed forward and overlapped. I was told this was because i didn’t have enough bone in my mouth, or more recently i shoudl have worn a retainer for longer? When i was 25 a lovely dentist upset by my being upset about my teeth fitted four crowns in my top teeth – they are stuck together – i think they are a bridge and two crowns and they looked great. He wrote to the NHS and also got them done for me at a reduced cost of £150 (NHS coughed up the rest because of the failure of all my orthodental treatment)Twenty years later they need doing again as my gumes have receded and they don’t look good close up but my question relates to my bottom teeth. These are small, overcrowded or pushed forward like my top teeth were, slightly chipped and generallyy don’t look nice. It is just the front bottom four – just like the top bottom four were before cosmetci work. Everytime i’m at the dentist – see a new dentist i ask if something can be done to imrove the look fo them and they always say it would be difficult and not worth it but if i’m about to get my upper teeth done at a small fortune i’d so like my whoel smile to look good and not have ugly looking bottom teeth. Could not he same work that was done on my top teeth (crowns etc ) be done to the bottom. I can’t see how veneers would work these teeth are tiny and overcrowded but of course i’m not the expert. Any advice, are all things possible. Thanks and sorry this eamil is sooooo long.

Is there something that can be put over the top of my grey coloured filling?

Wednesday, December 23rd, 2009
Q.
I just received fillings in my teeth and my dentist said the white fillings are not strong enough because they are in my back teeth, but i cannot stand the way the grey looks on my teeth. Is there something that dentists can put over the top to kind of hide the grey color?

Will root canal treatment make my teeth break even more?

Wednesday, December 23rd, 2009
Q.
Hi there, I have two very broken front teeth (on the bottom) which have looked awful every time I smile for years. Now they are starting to go grey so they look awful! They don’t hurt most of the time, one hurts when it gets cold but not all the time. The dentist has said I need root canal even though there is no evidence of infection etc and xray is clear. This tooth keeps breaking more every week. I am not bothered about undergoing pain but I want to get BOTH teeth looking nice and not half the size of every other front tooth. What would you suggest? Surely root canal will make them break even more?

Q.
I am a fit and healthy 22 year old non smoker on Limecycline for acne. My dentist and periodentist say i have generalised recession and no periodental disease, i have a thin gum biotype and have flares on my canines as well as many other teeth. What do you think the best treatment option is for me as the recession is about 2mm – 5mm from most of the teeth and due to staining looks more prominent?

Hi, I have had a canine missing for at least about 7-8 years, would my lateral incisors move into the gap? As I have noticed that my 1st premolar has begun to do so. What can I do if it (incisor) moves into the gap and how much could it cost in total to resolve this?

The gums has never grown over the bridge so its receeding advice

Monday, December 21st, 2009
Q.
I had 2 crowns fitted on my 2 front teeth about 20 years ago, over the years they were forever falling out and i had to have them replaced, the last time they fell out, which was 2 years ago, i went to the dentist who said that he couldnt replace one of them because one of the roots had rotted and he didnt have anything for the crown to hold on to so he advised i have a bridge, it was a bridge with the 2 teeth together and they were attached onto the tooth of which the root was still ok, they look ok but on the tooth where there is no root the gum has never grown over the bridge so its receeding and looking black, is there any advice you could give me, thanks
