I have about 2mm – 5mm of gum recession on most of the teeth advice

Q. I am a fit and healthy 22 year old non smoker on Limecycline for acne. My dentist and periodentist say i have generalised recession and no periodental disease, i have a thin gum biotype and have flares on my canines as well as many other teeth. What do you think the best treatment option is for me as the recession is about 2mm – 5mm from most of the teeth and due to staining looks more prominent?

A. The thin biotype is a bit a problem and most perioplastic surgical  treatments for recession are going have a high risk. My first approach in a young healthy with generalised recession and a thin biotype would be careful use of an electric toothbrush with a main brand toothpaste and regular careful top up cleans from a dental hygeinist then monitor and act during flare ups. It maybe a  case when an everyday  mouthwash like Colgate PEROXYL would be an assistance.Rob
