Can adult canine tooth be removed?

Tuesday, January 26th, 2010
Q.
Hi Dr Tennet. I am 25 years old and have not been to the dentist for about 11 years due to fear. I still have a baby canine tooth and my adult canine has been sat above it waiting to come down. I am so emabarassed about it, i am constantly worrying about it, it is really knocking my confidance. I have managed to get into a dentist and am just wondering what my options are. What i really want is to have the adult canine removed, I have very straight teeth and feel if they wanted to bring the adult canine tooth down it may push against my other teeth as it not sat straight in my gums anymore. Can adult canines be removed? and also would they keep my baby tooth in or could they insert an implant? Thank you for you help,

Monday, January 18th, 2010
Q.
Dr Tennet, How long (how many weeks or months) could you wait between the dental tooth implant being placed in the jaw bone and when the post and crown must be placed over it. I am looking for the maximum (not to exceed) wait time figure.,

Dentist says braces will not improve teeth but is this true?

Friday, January 15th, 2010
Q.
I had braces when i was 14 for 2 years, and had lovely straight teeth after that. Few years later my upper front teeth started protruding again, and i had braces again. I am now due to have them taken off, but the front two teeth are still visibly protruding. I have been told that nothing can be done as asian jaws are like that, and my teeth cannot be further straightened. Is this true? Should i seek a second opinion? What confuses me is that if that asian jaw theory is correct, my first set of braces would not have given me straight teeth.,

Should I get whitening or lumineers?

Thursday, January 14th, 2010
Q.
Hi Rob, I have just read one of your replies re: cost and if lumineers are a better choice or not. My question would be for your recommendation for stained/discoloured teeth (by tetracycline). Mine have been whitened twice already (Zoom) and of course they are a lot better but they are far from being white. Most of the people say there is nothing wrong with them but i still don’t like the photos of me smiling as they are way too yellow/greyish (especially comparing someone smiling next to me). They are slightly crooked as well but not too bad. What would be your recommendation? Invisalign and more whitening (what i’m concerned about doing too many times) or lumineers? I really liked the idea of lumineers first but since I have read a lot of bad as well. The price is also quite high for me. I’d also like to keep my original teeth as long as i can as apart from the colour there hasn’t been anything wrong with them. Please advise. Thanks a lot in advance.,

Can you reccomend a dentist in west midlands for lumineers?

Thursday, January 14th, 2010
Q.
Hi Rob, I am 36 years old and am considering getting cosmetic dentistry (Lumineers) done. I have gaps in my upper front teeth and would like them closed. However I also have receding gums, so do not want anything done until this has stabilised. Ideally im looking for a one stop shop where I can go for this treatment but I need to take costs into account and ideally looking for someone in the west midlands, Birmingham if possible, although for a recommended clinic I can travel furthe. I was wondering if you could kindly recommend a clinic or specialist that specializes in periodontics (possibly gum grafting) and cosmetic surgery. Thanks,
