Should I go for implant or bridge to replace tooth?

Tuesday, February 9th, 2010
Q.
I had one teeth removed (2nd last from the back at the top) and my dentist recommended: – a bridge or an implant. My other teeth are in perfectly good health and I have no history of poor oral hygiene. A bridge is much cheaper but I worry it may weaken the adjacent teeth. An implant is a lot more expensive (and scary) but if it really last for life (does it really?) I m willing to try. Is that really the best choice? How long does the procedure (implant) will take (1 / 2/ 3 hours?) and how much is the pain (say compare to pulling the teeth out for example). any risk of infection or complication? I am 32 and in good health. THanks Mat,

Can you give your opinion on implant treatment and cost?

Monday, February 8th, 2010
Q.
Mr.Moore, you caried out two implants for my wife in 2002.I have a denture covering four missing teeth in the upper jaw.Missing for some thirteen years. You insisted my wife had a CT scan before any dental work was carried out.I have been quoted some £5000 for three implants and three abutments with four/three porelain crowns.I think(to be confimed)this dental work would be carried out based only on X Rays.I would like your opinion on this proposal and the £5000 cost.Thank you.,

Can I get implants on the NHS?

Monday, February 8th, 2010
Q.
Dear Doctor Moore,I have been on incapacity benefit for sometime now due to several illnesses mainly diabetes related. One condition that I have is epilepsy which I have had for 34 years. One medication that I have been taking for this is phenytoin. This has caused my gums to shrink, and as a result I have now lost all of my teeth.I am now on my third set of dentures due to my gums constantly shrinking. Is it at all possible to have just a few screw in teeth on NHS,rather than having new dentures made on a regular basis,as the cost of new dentures are always needed has to be dearer in the long run.I just want to be able to eat some decent food instead of being in a viscous circle all the time. Please advise me what to do next.Thank you.,

Is it necessary to remove tooth tooth can what can be done to fill gap?

Friday, February 5th, 2010
Q.
I recently had an abcess near the front of my mouth on my tooth which has a root filling and had cracked and got infected. I have just finished my course of antibiotics and was told the root has died and the tooth needs to come out. I am reluctant to do this, as it is going to leave a gap near the front of my mouth. What would you suggest I do to fill in the gap? And is there any other options? many thanks,

What questions should I ask dentist about dental implants?

Friday, February 5th, 2010
Q.
Apart from the obvious questions of costs when researching dental implants. What are the other questions that you need to be asking the dentist. Should you be forthright and ask what make they use etc, do they have an inhouse lab etc etc. I am in the process of acquiring a dental implant for one of my front teeth and I want to now what I’ll be getting for my money without coming across rude. Kind regards,

Is implant a good option for me now?

Friday, February 5th, 2010
Q.
Hello Dr. Moore, I have a dental cantilever bridge for missing teeth for past 18 years, at first PM, 24. In order to strengthen the present alignment and for cosmetic looks I was considering an implant not available as option when I did the bridge. My bridge was very tight in contact with my canine, 23 and I feel 23 is pushing it. I did visit my dentist to help in this matter. She told me is not problem with this tight contact. Is almost 4 year from the time I had cemented this bridge, and my 23 is coming out, day by day like orthodontic pressure…and is move more frontal, now is over erupt because is not antagonist to stop, and is bone lost vertical and pocket 10mm, at mesial side of 23. What I can do?,

Is ooze coming from sinus on gums normal?

Friday, February 5th, 2010
Q.
I have a dental implant which was fitted about two years ago. All was well until about a month and a half ago when I noticed that the gum around the implant was becoming increasingly sore. I saw my dentist who referred me to a dental surgeon (the surgeon who fitted the implant no longer works at the practise). I have a “sinus” on the gum which is constantly oozing in to my mouth and that part of the gum often throbs. I have been advised to scrub the sinus on the gum with cordysl gel and to take mouth washes. Is this normal? The surgeon reckons it is improving and antibiotics are not allowed.,
