What treatment can I have as I have lost most of my gum line?

Thursday, February 11th, 2010
Q.
I have lost most of my gum line due to thirty years of wearing dentures. I am 55 and my jawline looks 65. My dentist doesn’t think he can even make replacement dentures and seems uninterested. Is there any help for? I have a very hard time chewing anything. If there is surgery for this, what does it consist of? We have medical and dental insurance but i don’t know if it will cover this. Any information is appreciated.,

What can be done for 18 month child with lack of teeth due to genes?

Wednesday, February 10th, 2010
Q.
Hi there, I just took my 18 month old son to the dentist following his pediatrician’s advice. He only has his two front teeth, and they are spaced widely apart and misshapen. After taking an x-ray, the dentist confirmed that my son had very few baby teeth and even less permanent teeth. He told my husband and I that we are facing a long road filled with dental and orthodontic procedures that will cost us several thousand dollars. I was more concerned about an underlying condition that may have caused such a rarity. The dentist convinced me that it was just a case of bad genes ( i had vaguely similar problems). He also told me that not much could be done to correct his teeth now. My husband and I are so fearful that he will be ridiculed and excluded in school if nothing is done to help him. I read that implants are not a consideration for young children. We are awaiting an appointment with an oral surgeon, but in the meantime, can you tell me what our other options are? Thanks.,

Should ortho and implant treatment be so expensive?

Wednesday, February 10th, 2010
Q.
I have a problem with my jaw joint which is now coursing me a problem. I have had orthodontic treatment in my younger days (30 years ago)at Guys Hospital as I had a lack of second teeth. I now have a gap developing and a cross bite. I have recently seen an Orthodontist an implant surgeon and someone else for the implant. The costing is high and the report very loose in the sense they cannot tell me whether I will need one implant or two until the Orthodontist has started moving my teeth. I am worried that the cost could be even higher. Is this usual or should I seek a second opinion regarding the whole treatment process.,

I am terried of dentist but would antibiotics help?

Wednesday, February 10th, 2010
Q.
Hi I broke a piece off an already filled, front molar about a year ago, my dentist very skillfully removed the old filling and effectively re0built me a tooth from filling. I had recurring niggles with it,& have taken a few courses of antibiotics to settle things down. Apart from the tooth feeling slightly looser than the rest, all has been well until a week or two back when I had pain, and my dentist thought I had an abscess, one more lot of antibiotics (which don’t agree with me at all), the pain has mostly, but not completely gone. My dentist mentioned that if the antibiotics don’t work then root canal and crown will be the next move. I have had a root canal in the past that didn’t work (but have a crown which has done sterling service), so I am unsure as what to do next. Since my filling tooth is a bit wobbly is a crown worth trying, would that maybe give it more stability, (I half wonder if I have the abscess now due to the movement in the gum), do I ask to try another lot of antibiotic even though I know they’ll make me feel ill, or, cut my losses, have the tooth out and then think about a bridge or implant, although I am terrified of dental treatment and have no idea what each of these involves; I’ll be happy as long as I’m sedated!!!! Sorry it’s such a long question, but hope you can advise,

Is there a dentist in Glasgow who can fix my teeth in time for wedding?

Wednesday, February 10th, 2010
Q.
Im wondering if someone can help me – i am in need of some cosmetic dentistry asap. I am getting married in August 2011, and really want to be able to smile on my wedding day. The problem is my teeth are in such a mess! My front 3 teeth were removed, i have 1 implants and the other 2 are on a bridge. The rest of my teeth are discoloured, missing or broken. My bottom teeth are all still in place but would need to be whitened. I just wonder if someoen could recommend a dentist in glasgow i could go to? I dont want to get credit, and i probably wouldnt due to a bad credit history and just wonder is there any other way of paying for it? I could save maybe £4k by the end of this year but i dont know if that would be enough, or leave enough time for me to get it done before my wedding? Please help!,

What qualifications should I look for in dental implant provider?

Wednesday, February 10th, 2010
Q.
Hi Dr Moore, Do you need specific qualifications to perform implants on a patient or can any dentist do it. I am currently researching dentists in the Northwest that can do this kind of work. When looking on the General Dental Councils register some dentists have letters after their names and some only have BDC. When looking for the right dentist what should I be looking for qualification wise. Many thanks,

Will dental implants fill out my face again?

Wednesday, February 10th, 2010
Q.
I have facial sagging due to loss of all lower back molars going back a no of years (9 teeth in a row in front)I cannot afford implants just now & have been told I would need bone grafting to that area due to shrinkage of bone, my current dentist is supplying a partial denture to help with bite meeting upper teeth. Will future implants “fill out” my face again? I am still considered a very attractive woman for my age-41 but don’t feel confident in self.,

Will I be able to get braces and implants to fix smile?

Wednesday, February 10th, 2010
Q.
Hello Dr. Kailesh Solanki, I had crooked teeth as a child and at 15 I was told that I would have dentures at 18 years of age. This completly put me of dentists until about 4 years ago when I went to Hungary where they took out 2 of my front teeth and I also got crowns and a bridge to straighten my front teeth. At first I was delighted with the results, however I now look really cross when I close my mouth and the gums are receding on my two front teeth. Is it possible to get braces to straighten my teeth properly and then to put in implants where the two teeth were pulled. I would really appreciate any advice you could give me. Thanks.,
