I Suffer From Gagging Through My Dentures But I Can’t Afford Implants. What Should I Do?

Thursday, May 1st, 2014
Q.

Hi Mark. About 3 years ago I had all my upper teeth out by a previous dentist, this should have been avoided, rather than persist with repairing my teeth, they were extracted one by one until they were all gone over a short time. My problem is, I don’t have enough bone for implants, this is slowly getting worse as time goes on. I don’t qualify for free implants and cannot afford to pay myself. I am 55 and the dentist that pulled the teeth said she is not prepared to do implant on the NHS as it’s not cost effective. I had 3 dentures made but none of them are any good. I suffer from gagging so my dentures were made without much
of the roof of the mouth intact. I’d like advice to what I can do next? Many thanks.

My Dad Has Developed Periodontal Disease Through Having Diabetes. Is There Something He Can Do Temporarily Until He Gets Implants?

Tuesday, April 29th, 2014
Q.

Hi Andrew. I have a question for you. My dad has diabetes (not because he is overweight or unhealthy) and has developed periodontal disease, he’s currently having treatment with a gum specialist and he has an appointment for a deep cleaning soon, but some of his teeth have fallen out and some are loose. Is there something that can be done temporarily like a bridge in order for him to have teeth until he has healthy enough gums to maybe get implants? He’s getting really paranoid, as his front tooth is loose and he is under a lot of stress through this.

I Had Braces About 7 Years Ago. Now My Teeth Are Moving Apart And They Hurt At Night. What Should I Do To Fix This?

Monday, April 28th, 2014
Q.

Hello Dr Hughes. I hope you can advise me. I previously had braces about 7 years ago, I had two teeth taken out from each side. Recently my teeth have started moving apart and I now have a gap in my two front teeth which seems to be increasing over time. My teeth sometimes hurt during the night and the gap in my teeth is increasing. Which is the best treatment you would suggest for me to close the gaps? I am happy to pay for it.
Thank you for your time.

My Dentist Said I No Longer Have Enough Bone For Dental Implants. Could You Give Me Second Opinion, Please?

Friday, April 25th, 2014
Q.

Hello Andrew. I hope you can help me with my enquiry. When I was around the age of 13 I had an accident. I knocked my two front teeth out. I was told at the time I needed to wait whilst I was 18 to have dental implants and was given a denture to use in the meantime.

I have been saving the money, I am now 19 and recently went to a dental implant surgeon based where I live. I explained what had happened I got sent for a CT scan and it shows that I have hardly any bone their, the dentist said he doesn’t think I should do it, as the implants may look stupid. Could you give me a second opinion please? Thank you for your time.

Hi Mark. Is It Possible To Have My Teeth Removed And Replaced With Implants?

Monday, April 14th, 2014
Q.

Hi Mark. I was wondering it’s possible to have teeth removed and replaced with implants? My two front teeth grew out of line from my others due to an accident when I was young in which I smashed my face off concrete and ruined my baby teeth. I tried braces when I was younger but I didn’t like the bullying that came with it. I realise procedures like this could be costly but as I’m now 23 years old I need to do something about it. Thanks for any help and advice you can give.

Hello Mark. I Don’t Know Whether To Have Root Canal Treatment Or Not. Can You Advise Me?

Friday, April 11th, 2014
Q.

Hello. I have a badly decayed molar in my mouth. It is on the right side of my mouth on top; second to the last. I went to my dentist last year in October. He filled the tooth as much as he can. However, as instructed only a temporary fix until my insurance “kicked” in. He said it was badly infected at the time. It also had a huge hole from a bad filling and a cavity. He told me to get a root canal and to put a cap on it, If I choose to pull it, not advised, then all my teeth would eventually shift. I don’t have a clue what to do, either pull it or have a root canal? I have read the pros and cons for root canals. Please advise. Financially I can’t afford a root canal.

Hello. I Would Like To Know How Long It Would Take To Open Up Roughly 4mm Of Space For Dental Implants To Be Placed?

Friday, April 4th, 2014
Q.

Hello, I was wondering if you could help me? When I was younger I had braces to open up a space. This space had to be opened up in order to compensate for my missing lateral incisors which had to be replaced with dental implants. Now I am 18 and have been told there is not enough space in the roots to place the actual dental implant and I have been advised to have even more orthodontic treatment, I am just wondering how long it would take to open up roughly 3/4mm of space for dental implants to be placed? Any response will be greatly received. Thank you.

I Have A False Front Tooth And I Would Like Alternative Options As It’s Coming Loose.

Thursday, April 3rd, 2014
Q.

Hi Mark. I had one of my front teeth taken out about six years ago due to a gum infection and I now wear a false tooth. I was told at the time that this was my only option as there was insufficient bone to support an implant. I am now wondering if this is still my only option as I am very self conscious. I am 53 and in good health. I regularly attend my dentist and look after my teeth also. My false tooth is one of my front teeth and is also coming a little loose now. Thank you, I hope to hear from you soon.

Is It Possible For Me To Get Fixed Dentures? How Much Is This Likely To Cost?

Wednesday, April 2nd, 2014
Q.

Hi Andrew, I’d like your help. I have had top full dentures for many years now and feel I would benefit from fixed dentures. Is this possible and how much is it likely to cost? I would also like implants on my lower jaw as I cannot wear my bottom partial plate without difficulty. Is there anything out there you could recommend to help me with this? I really hope to hear from you soon. Thank you in advance for any information you can provide me with.

Hi. My Question Is: Can I Get My Regular Dentist To Fit A Dental Implant?

Tuesday, April 1st, 2014
Q.

Hello Dr Patel. I have a question for you. I have a front tooth that is missing and I really need to get this fixed. There’s another tooth that is also loose and that is about to come out as well. My question is: how much does screw a tooth cost and can a regular dentist do this? How does this work? What I mean is, do I need to have a certain problem other than a missing tooth? Also do you put a person to sleep for this or just use shots to numb the gum area to do the screw in tooth. Any other information you can provide me with would be great. Thank you.
