Should ortho and implant treatment be so expensive?

Q. I have a problem with my jaw joint which is now coursing me a problem. I have had orthodontic treatment in my younger days (30 years ago)at Guys Hospital as I had a lack of second teeth. I now have a gap developing and a cross bite. I have recently seen an Orthodontist an implant surgeon and someone else for the implant. The costing is high and the report very loose in the sense they cannot tell me whether I will need one implant or two until the Orthodontist has started moving my teeth. I am worried that the cost could be even higher. Is this usual or should I seek a second opinion regarding the whole treatment process.,
A. Unfortuanetly dental treatment is always expensive. The main thing you need to ask yourself is whether you trust the people you are seeing for the treatment. However, when the cost for treatment is so high, it might not be a bad thing to seek a second opinion.Justin Glaister
