What type of procedure is involved when placing a dental implant?

Friday, August 6th, 2010
Q.
My dentist suggested I have dentures for my back teeth as I am afraid I haven’t got any, I have all my front teeth. What I would like to ask is, how are inplants done, what is involved. I dont know wheather I could cope with a pallette for false teeth. I have made an appointment for August to have an impression for false teeth, but I think I prefer to have inplants, but I dont know whether I can afford them as I am now a pensioner.,

My dentist won’t replace my bridge until it had fallen out completely, so I now want implants. How much are they?

Wednesday, August 4th, 2010
Q.
Hi I currently have a bridge as i lost one of my front teeth some years ago. This bridge has now slipped downwards and needs to be replaced, my dentist will not replace it until it has fallen out, this has upset me because when i do smile you can see the gap above the bridge which shows my own teeth either side. So as he wont change this i am thinking of getting implants. What would a dentist do, would they just put one inplant in for the one missing tooth and put crowns on the supporting teeth (these are front teeth) i have about an inch overbite as well so can this also be changed. How much would this cost? Thanks,

Do I have a choice concerning where I can have my implant fitted after I have my tooth removed by my regular dentist?

Tuesday, August 3rd, 2010
Q.
I have a molar in my lower right jaw with an infection in/below the root canal. The tooth is crowned and has been infected and recrowned previously. My dentist and I are agreed that the tooth must go! Antibiotic treatment is making me feel unwell and not solving the pain problem completely – I am now in my second week of high-dose antibiotics, having been changed from penicillin to Clindamycin today – and I would like to lost the tooth asap. I hope to have an implant to replace this tooth/crown and have been told that I would be suitable for one. My own dentist (A) does not perform implants, but has told me that the dentist at my practice who does (B) would like to extract my problem tooth himself to see how it “sits”, etc. I have two problems with this: i) dentist B does not want to take the tooth out at the moment and ii) I am not sure that I feel confident about dentist B conducting the implant procedure. Can I decide where to have my implant performed after my own dentist, dentist A, has extracted the offending tooth?,

I’m having several problems with my implants, can I get them re-fitted without ruining them and the bone underneath?

Tuesday, August 3rd, 2010
Q.
hi dr moore, i have a question. i had 2 implants done a few years back to replace my front teeth.. the first implant went in fine but the second one took less thn half the time and felt like it had snapd my bone, i askd him if everything went ok and he said it was fine.. a few weeks went by and i started gettin a grinding snaping feeling and sound in my mouth like the bone had somehow snapd, i talkd to the dentist about this and he said it was the implants rubbing against my other teeth, which sounds odd to me.. could tht be true? and how can i fix this? also another question, when i had the teeth fitted he put the teeth in the way round, as in the left was where the right should be.. can i get them removed and fitted again without ruining the implants and maybe my bone too? thanks for your time in answering these questions it would mean alot to finally fix my teeth problems, thanks again.,

Is my dentists charging me for work that I might not need or may not even be right for me?

Tuesday, August 3rd, 2010
Q.
Hi – I want to my NHS dentist this morning in Essex, and I am a little concerned on something. Two years ago, I had a dental implant (front tooth) and recently it is chipping away around the sides and looking a little gappy. Firstly, he did not remember it was him that put the actual implant in. Secondly, I did not realise this until now, but he has booked me in to come back for a crown on this tooth. Is this normal, or would he think that it is only a crown on the tooth rather than implant? Thirdly, I obv paid for this already, when it was originally done. He is charging me again, is this right? Many thanks if you can help, because I am concerned about paying all the money again and not getting a proper job done.,
