What would the dentist do about my 2 rotten teeth?

Thursday, September 2nd, 2010
Q.
Hi, I have a fear of dentists and have not been to a dentist for nearly 20 years. I need to have a few fillings put in but the main problem is that i have two teeth at the back of my mouth that have rotten completely down to the gum? I think I have finally built the courage to go visit a dentist, but am still worried to what they would do to my two rotten teeth? Could you share some light regards.

Is there a possibility of strengthening the gums and bone so I can have dental implants?

Thursday, September 2nd, 2010
Q.
Hi I am 23 years old and my lower gums have receeded badly. I have 1 tooth already removed and another due to be removed soon. My dentist has offered me a denture and says in ten years I may loose all the bottom teeth/they will become very loose. The bone is also affected and I am wondering if you could help me with any suggestions or treatment you can perform to have dental implants eg is there a possibility of strengthening the gums and bone so I can have dental implants?,

Do you think I’m suitable for dental implants?

Thursday, September 2nd, 2010
Q.
Hi I am 30 years old and had a plate put in about 5 years ago to cover 4 missing teeth in my front lower jaw. This was due to very poor oral hygiene on my part when I was growing up. There was a concern at the time that one of the teeth the plate anchors onto was also weak. Unfortunately, that tooth is now due to be removed. I do smoke about 2 cigarettes a day (trying to quit), I brush regularly and only drink water and try my best to avoid sugar as a result of all this but I feel as though I’m fighting a losing battle and I don’t want to lose anymore teeth. The plate can hurt when eating food and it is difficult to take in and out every day. I spoke with a consultant at the NHS yesterday and he was totally dismissive of the idea of implants. I know I would have to go private, that’s not a problem, but he told me not to bother wasting my money. I am concerned, however, that the plate is putting pressure on my other teeth and is causing me too much discomfort. I’m desperate to get this sorted out and I wanted to get a second opinion. I realise you’re a leading expert in this field and I was wondering if you could offer me any advice as to the best course of action? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Yours,
,

Wednesday, September 1st, 2010
Q.
I have a front loose tooth that I think is ready for falling out (my dentist said today he cannot save it) I asked him about implants and he said he will not do it because I smoke. i asked him if I went to a cosmetic dentist and paid privately would they do it I was told no because I smoke. I am prepared to give up smoking with help from my Gp but he still said no-one will do it for me.,

Can you please advise me on the possibility of getting implants to avoid my cyst problems?

Wednesday, September 1st, 2010
Q.
I most appreciate your advice. I am 28 yrs. old and yesterday, was told by a facial surgeon that I have two large cysts above my front teeth, over 4 in total. I have already had one cyst removed above one side last year and now considering implants so this will not occur again. My 2 front teeth, in any case are crowns. The doctor recommended I try to “save my teeth” and just have a similar operation as before and in the possible event that it does reoccurs, get implants. What are your thoughts please? I have had all the scans and the cysts are very noticeable on view of the scan. If I were to have the implants, how long would this take to heal and could they be put in at the same time as the extractions are done? Many thanks for your help.,
