Monday, April 20th, 2009
Q.
My husband just had a 6 tooth bridge put in. There are gaps where his gum line doesn’t come down inbetween the teeth. Is there anything that can be done for this? When he smiles it looks like his teeth are rotten at the gum line. There are in temporarily right now, because he was so unhappy with them. The dentist says he has deteriating gums so they will receed more. Thank you for your help.

what would be the best option for my broken front tooth dentures or bridges or implants

Saturday, April 18th, 2009
Q.
Hi, I have recently broken my front tooth which I was really embarrassed about. Anyway, unfortantly I had to wait a week before I could see my dentist. he advised me that the tooth was weak at the root from an infection. I had a choice to either have a crown fitted but could break or fall out due to the infection. The other choice was to take out the remaining tooth, have a temp denture and then have a bridge fitted. I decided to have the tooth taken out, wait 2 days for my temp tooth and then 6 months before I can have a bridge fitted. When I went to get my temp tooth fitted (which feels really weird and can’t wait to get rid of it) the dentist gave me further options which is making me confused and I don’t know what to do for the best: 1) Keep the temp denture (which I hate and dont want to do this) 2) Have a bridge fitted but could weaken my other teeth at the front and could come out 3) Have implants which would prob cost me £2000 for one tooth and at the moment I can’t afford. I would like to have an implant but don’t have that sort of money at the moment and not sure if you can pay monthly. I was wondering if you could advise me what would be best as I’m very confused. Hope this makes sense and look forward to your reply. Many thanks, A sensitive, toothless young woman.

Saturday, April 18th, 2009
Q.
I have a bridge in the front with front tooth missing all porcline crowns and a steel reforcement at the back of the bridge. I have had it for 20 years but you can see the gap on one of the tooths, plus the bridge tender in parts plus i suffer with bad breath for the last year and an upset stomach. My dentist has checked my bridge and says to leave it alone if it is not hurting other people have said it might be a lot of work plus results will not be same! can your advise? Yours Sincerely

can I have the lower fixed bridge realigned to get a better bite?

Saturday, April 18th, 2009
Q.
I have a lower middle fixed bridge with 6 teeth, that attach to a semi-precision partial. I had my original partial which I had since 2000, replaced in 2006 with a new one from the same dentist that did all my work, because when I asked for a reline, and she sent it to the lab after making an impression, the dental lab said it was warped, and had to be remade. From day one I didn’t like the way it felt in my mouth on the right side. The new partial didn’t fit in the abutment clasp completely (stood up alittle),on the left side. My dentist kept adjusting it, and I told her that it still didn’t feel right, and she told me she couldn’t adjust it anymore, and I left her office without complete satisfaction. The teeth were made much thicker/bigger than my original partial (but she loved the new teeth). I now notice that my lower fixed bridge has shifted alittle. My lower teeth, hit my upper teeth on the right side. My question is, can I have the lower fixed bridge realigned or have one or more of teeth on the fixed bridge removed, and the bridge fused back together to get a better bite? I have crowns on all my teeth upper & lower, except for the lower semi-precision partial. I also have post & cores with the fixed bridge. I had my whole mouth done upper & lower in 2000.

My maryland bridge has weakened and partially broken can this be fixed?

Wednesday, April 15th, 2009
Q.
I have a Maryland bridge comprising two prosthetic teeth in the (top) front of my mouth. Each cemented independently to the adjacent two teeth. I have had the bridge for about 18 – 19 years and in that period one side of it has been re-cemented about 4 times. The other side has remained in place but has today come loose. I think the connection between the prosthetic tooth and the metal wings has weakened and partially broken. Can this be fixed by a dental surgeon as a temporary measure? If so could I please ask how this could be achieved? Would the wing which is still cemented need to be removed and can this be done? Many Thanks.

I find it quite difficult to clean away plaque under the bridge

Tuesday, April 14th, 2009
Q.
I have recently had a bridge put in my mouth. I find it quite difficult to clean away plaque under the bridge. Is there any type of cement that you can apply that can be removed on a regular basis for cleaning and then re-applied?
