please tell me what treatment should i undergo to replace the gap implant or bridge?

Friday, May 1st, 2009
Q.
I am a 17 yr old girl. Around 4 years back….i had two milk teeth (1 premolar on each side) which had not yet fallen off and were decayed. On consultin my dentist as to why these teeth were not falling off, he suggested that it will be futile to treat the caries as within few months they will fall off. But 3 years back, when they still hadnt fallen off, he did an xray and found the permanent teeth were absent in both the teeth. he treated them but said that it would not stay long. now, after 3 years….one of the milk teeth has fallen off…and there is a gap in its place. Could you please tell me what treatment should i undergo to replace the gap….what would be better – impant or bridge? or some other alternative. i want a permanent solution to this. thank u….

Wednesday, April 29th, 2009
Q.
Hi there, i have 2 teeth (together) that have had root canal treatment ,the dentist has x rayed them and he says the root is infected and i need to have them extracted. he can only offer me a denture which i really dont want, is there any other option ?i was thinking of a bridge? the remaining tooth that the bridge would need to be attached to is a crown and the other a filled molar?can you have bridgework done in these circumstances and how much would it be ?thanks

i dont understand how i can have a bridge when the teeth either side are loose any advise

Friday, April 24th, 2009
Q.
Hi,I have been having treatment for gum disease at a dental hospital and was advised to have my bottom front tooth out as it was loose and could`nt be saved.I have a temporary denture and was told my dentist would fit a bridge in 6 months.I have noticed the teeth either side of the missing tooth at the bottom of my mouth are long and there is movement in them. When I asked at the hospital at my next appointment the specialist said I could still get a bridge.I don`t understand how I can have a bridge when the teeth either side are loose.I was told I would`nt be suitable for implants as I have severe bone loss.I was upset about this as I had been saving hoping to get implants.Any advise would be greatly appreciated.Thankyou

I have had a knawing pain which feels like its the eye tooth please any advice

Friday, April 24th, 2009
Q.
Hi i went to my dentist about 18 monthes ago and he said i needed a new denture and my top tooth next to the eye tooth was twisted.(this tooth had a white filling in it and had never beeen any problems. He persuaded me to have it crowned which i was against.every since i have had a knawing pain which feels like its the eye tooth.my dentist dosnt really listen to what you tell him and ended up doing two root canels on the tooth he had crowned. he done the last one through the tooth and then put a mecury filling in which i wasnt pleased about. cheapest i think.i keep trying to tell him the crowned tooth aches all the while unless i take my denture out.for the last 18 months i have pain/burning in that side of my face.it goes into the ear.this is wearing me down. the dentist will not have its anything to do with the crowned tooth and says ive probably got TMJ and to yawn with my mouth shut and cut up my food. sadly im nhs and once you have paid your fee they dont want to know.i have took antibiotics and anti inflammatorys but these do not help.as i said no problems with that side of my face or teeth until i had that crown and root fillings. please any suggestings.

my tooth started to get pushed back and is now very squit would a bridge be effective?

Tuesday, April 21st, 2009
Q.
One of my front bottom teeth got chipped a few yesrs ago and eventually got infected. gradually my tooth started to get pushed back by the infection and is now very squint. the front of my gum is open from the pressure of the tooth and it is very painfully if accidentally knocked. my dentist said i could either have it removed or have a brace put on as the teeth either side have started to cave in, then once straight have it removed and have an implant put in. i cannot afford the implant but read about bridges. would a bridge be effective and how much would it cost? i really dont want to be left with a gap!!

should i go for maryland bridges for my massive perforation or get the tooth restored

Tuesday, April 21st, 2009
Q.
I had rct done 5 months ago, during which the dentist made a massive perforation in it. I went to see a endontist on monday where he spent 3 hours trying to repair and locate the canals in my lower right 1. He was unncecessfull. I have been advised to have the tooth removed and have a maryland put in its place as the endodontist has said that too much of my tooth will have to be cut away in order to restore it. he said a maryland will be a temporary fixture untill i can afford a implant. shold i go for this or shall i try and get the tooth restored.

I am unhappy with my past root canal treatment should I pay my dentist or not

Tuesday, April 21st, 2009
Q.
A couple of years ago I went to a cosmetic dentist with whom I had 3 crowns done and root canal treatment on 2 teeth. The crowns were dreadful and stupidly I coughed up. When I had an appmnt. for one of the root canal treatments I was asked if Iminded another dentist doing it as the original dentist had gone to Germany on a course. The covering dentist had been shipped in from Manchester not only to cover for treatment but also to cover up the fact that his coun terpart was practicing whilst struck off. He tried far too long to find the root and it scared me of dentists to this day. I registered with NHS for routine checks after this. Just recently I approached another cosmetic dentist to re-do my crowns. After X Rays she said the root was damaged on tooth Mcr dentist did, but that she could extract it and bridge it to two crowns either side. She also said the other root canal was infected and needed treatment. This was going to be used in the bridge. I went for first appmnt and had panoramic x-ray and diagnostic wax-up. A couple of days later I went to my NHS dentist for routine check, explained to him what I was having done and he said that the teeth to be used in bridge weren’t very good and that I could be wasting my money as root canal could become infected again. As the cosmetic dentist had taken a large deposit off me I stopped the cheque and said I wasn’t going ahead but that I would pay for the appnmt I’d had. It was to be £350. I am peeved at having to pay this, and haven’t done yet. Shall I or shall I not. Sorry for the rambling but I’ve had it with dentists. I could even add to this. Please advise.
