Which method is better a normal attached bridge or a Maryland bridge

Friday, April 3rd, 2009
Q.
I lost a tooth in the front bottom to an injury the tooth want initially knocked out but became loose and was infected. The dentist pulled the tooth. I went to consult with a surgeon who said I didn’t have enough bone for an implant or even a bone graft. The x-ray revealed that the bone on either side of the tool closest to the socket has little bone. The bone around on the other side of the abutment teeth is normal. Which method is better a normal attached bridge or a Maryland bridge?

Can a 70 year olds teeth be too white?

Friday, April 3rd, 2009
Q.
Can an older (almost 70years) have teeth that are too white? My husband is needing a bridge on his lower front teeth and caps on 4 of his upper teeth (all but his canines.) He has whitened his teeth, but they are still quite yellow. Should we use a veneer on his canines and make them whiter? (I realize without seeing the color, you will only be giving me a general opinion.) My primary question is: Can you go too white on a 70 year old. Does it just look unnatural? Thank you for your time in answering this question.

Would a dentist remove the two teeth if i asked them and form a bridge to reconstruct the facial smile?

Friday, April 3rd, 2009
Q.
Hi, I was hoping someone might be able to help me. Two of my top teeth are crooked, the right crown is quite bad and I don’t think they would be able to use a veneer and it is quite bad, the left tooth is perfect. The two teeth in question are my right crown and the tooth next to it, this tooth is slightly pushed bad and not in line either. My question is, would a dentist remove the two teeth if i asked them and form a bridge to reconstruct the facial smile, not Bearing in mine the two crooked teeth are healthy so was not sure whether they would remove them or whether I get a mate to pull them out. Braces is not an option, even clear. Second question, due to slight overcrowded in the top teeth if they replaced this tooth in the position it would not fit. So was wondering if they could make the left crown smaller and match the two front crowns so to speak. Would that be possible. Any assistance would be great

will the material being used affect the shade of my bridge

Friday, April 3rd, 2009
Q.
Hi, I had my upper central tooth extracted and replaced ith a porcelain Zirconia Bridge ( lava bridge) Unfortunately the bridge does not match the shade of my existing teeth and therefore sticks out like a sore thumb. It is like a block of white so really stands out. My question is that did my dentist use the best material for the job i.e Zirconia or should another brnad of porcelain been used in its place. I am due back at the dental lab for them to try and match the shade again and replace the lava bridge , my only concern is that the shade will never be right due to the material that is being used . Please can you advise which route I should take as it has cost me £900 for this treatment and I am really unhappy with the results. Kind Regards

I have been told that there is a new type of bridge available that is made with plastic now. Do you know the name of this and its advantages and disadvantages?

Friday, April 3rd, 2009
Q.
My tooth front teeth were capped about 7 years ago. In December I had to have one of the teeth pulled due to a cyst in my gum which had ate into my bone. The oral surgeon has told me I have healed well, the cyst was a normal cyst, however, due to the lack of bone, I cannot be a candidate for a titanium post and crown. I am trying to research bridges before my appointment with my dentist. I have been told that there is a new type of bridge available that is made with plastic now. Do you know the name of this and its advantages and disadvantages? Any assistance you can give me I would appreciate. Thank you.

I have a gap in my upper row of teeth and I need to have a fractured tooth removed NHS does not provide bridge

Thursday, April 2nd, 2009
Q.
I have a gap in my upper row of teeth and it is now looking likely that I will have to have another tooth removed as it its fractured making the gap even wider. I have always been self concious about this gap as you can see it when I smile and now I am really concerned. I would like to have a bridge fitted but my dentist has informed me that bridges are not covered under the NHS and yet I have found numerous references to the contrary
