I want to get them done as soon as possible, I am only young but want them done before my 21st and my wedding day. please email me back thanks very much
A. This all depends on the problem you have with the teeth. have a good look at our website and think about what treatment you think you need and then ask your dentist for advice.

Q. Im 15 and im self conscious about my small gap. ive had braces and unfortuneatly lost my retainers. it took like a month to pay for them and now my front teeth gap has slighty opened. Any ideas on cheap ways to close my gap?
A. Unfortanately not – you need your teeth moved back into the correct place which requires some type of orthodontics

Q. Hi there Andrew. Thank you for offering your advice here. I’ve had a porcelain and metal bonded crown on my main front left tooth for the last 6 years. It is fitted on a small stub (my actual tooth) Recently my porcelain crown broke in the middle of the night. It just fell apart at 5am. I didn’t bang it and dont hink i have ever banged it as im very carefull with it. Only the porcelain broke off… the black metal is still on my tooth with the permenant dentist glue. I have a HC2 certificate. What is the difference, in detail, between an NHS crown and a private crown? Shouldn’t the quality of a NHS crown be the same as a private crown? Am I entitled to request, under my entitlement to rights from NHS dental treatment received, that i would like the NHS crown to be the same quality as a private crown? Am I entitled to an all ceramic crown under my NHS HC2 certificate rather than a porcelain/metal bonded crown? It is for my main front left tooth. Looking forward to your advice. Many many thanks.
A. Like most things in life if you pay extra you can get abetter service or quality. Hence it is possible to pay more for a better crown, maybe one that is stronger, looks better or of a superior material. Unfortunately the NHS crown cannot be the same quality as a private crown as the lab costs aren’t covered by the NHS fee. You should discuss the options with your dentist and see what you could do.

Q. Hello, I had veneers put in 2 years ago and had a broken front one replaced free of charge last year. Unfortunately one of the side ones has now cracked and half of it has fallen off. I have contacted my dentist and asked about ‘fixing’ it back on but he is saying a brand new veneer at £600.00 is the only option. Can Veneers not be bonded back together is it is a clean break? Maybe I’m just getting fed up of spending more on top of the original £10,000! thanks
A. The joinbetween the two halves will always be detectable. As you spent a lot on the appearance of your teeth, I guess this would annoy you in the long term. At current fracture rates You should look into if any changes need to be made to your bite. Possibly wear a night time guard. It is worth asking for a reduced fee on the replacement.

Q. i am 24yrs old and my upper teeth are all falling out one by one what should i do every dentist i see tell me to get implants but they cost to much.how about dentures will they look natural i am ashame i dont even smile any more can you please help me…..
A. It must be awful for you to be experiencing this….but be aware that there ARE options regarding your teeth. You need not suffer.
As you are still only young and hopefully have many years ahead of you…….the best long term option would be implants- as you have been told in the past. They are the next best thing to your real teeth- and are fixed into your mouth. You are right, however that it is a costly form of treatment. Please do not dismiss the idea straight away. Alot of dental practices offer financial solutions- such as 0% finance. It is not something to go into lightly, but I do advise that you have a consultation regarding your teeth. I would be more than happy to see you myself, or alternatively, I could recommend some good dentists in your area.
On the subject of dentures, there is an art to making them look natural. There are some great denture lab technicians that can construct works of art,- and it IS an option.
In the meantime, I would stress that you have regular dental visits and hygiene visits to stabilise the condition of your remaining teeth.

Q. i’m 19 and very insecure about my teeth, they are nowehere near as straight as i want them to be, i’m on national minimum wage and i’m wondering how much braces would cost me and how much teeth whitening would cost. i hope to get an answer soon.
A. It depends on how much your teeth need starightening. You see, the cost of the appliances vary. You can expect to pay £2000 +
Also whitening can range from around £400-£900 depending again on the systems. Alot of cosmetic dental practices offer a free consultation service. I would advise you taken advantage of one of these and your treatment needs can be discussed in more depth. Hope this has helped.

Q. A couple of years ago I went to a cosmetic dentist with whom I had 3 crowns done and root canal treatment on 2 teeth. The crowns were dreadful and stupidly I coughed up. When I had an appmnt. for one of the root canal treatments I was asked if Iminded another dentist doing it as the original dentist had gone to Germany on a course. The covering dentist had been shipped in from Manchester not only to cover for treatment but also to cover up the fact that his coun terpart was practicing whilst struck off. He tried far too long to find the root and it scared me of dentists to this day. I registered with NHS for routine checks after this. Just recently I approached another cosmetic dentist to re-do my crowns. After X Rays she said the root was damaged on tooth Mcr dentist did, but that she could extract it and bridge it to two crowns either side. She also said the other root canal was infected and needed treatment. This was going to be used in the bridge. I went for first appmnt and had panoramic x-ray and diagnostic wax-up. A couple of days later I went to my NHS dentist for routine check, explained to him what I was having done and he said that the teeth to be used in bridge weren’t very good and that I could be wasting my money as root canal could become infected again. As the cosmetic dentist had taken a large deposit off me I stopped the cheque and said I wasn’t going ahead but that I would pay for the appnmt I’d had. It was to be £350. I am peeved at having to pay this, and haven’t done yet. Shall I or shall I not. Sorry for the rambling but I’ve had it with dentists. I could even add to this. Please advise.
A. The £350 sounds like a fair price to me- as you’ve has a diagnostic wax up and Panoramic xray- also for the surgery time.
You need to understand that alot of dentists have very different opinions as to what the best treatment will be.
It is difficult for me to say, as I have not seen the xrays- or the state of the teeth. All I can say is that the risk is always taken with all dental treatment and things such as root canal treatment is not always successful. In future, I would recommend seeing a specialised endodontist for any root fillings. I would definately recommend that the treatment for the overall aesthetic results, be done with a cosmetic dentist (as you weren’t happy with the origional crowns)
Instead of having a conventional bridge, perhaps you can consider having dental implants. This option would mean that the adjacent teeth will not have to be compromised. It is a more costly option, but something to bear in mind. Good luck and hope you get the treatment you need.

Q. Hi I wonder if you could advise me. I have several teeth missing from my upper mouth I would say maybe 6 or 7 and also a few from my lower jaw. I have a denture but I hate it so much I get really embarrassed when I talk to people and I’m always trying to hide my mouth. I would really love to get dental implants but have heard that this is very expensive. Could you tell me how much you think this would actually cost for the whole procedure and also if there is like a payment plan or any help that is available to someone on a low income.
A. Hi As a guide an implant and the final porcelain tooth will cost around £2000. It isn’t always necessary to place 1 implant per tooth for example you can use 2 implants to hold 3 fixed teeth, so the cost is usually reduced for multiple implants.
With a payment plan costs are spread over 6,12 or 24 months subject to acceptance. If you would like to know more please contact my practice on 01245 268 494 to book a free smile consultation

Q. hi rob, i would really like to have veneers fitted as my teeth are horrible and really affecting my confidence i dont smile anymore, but i really cant afford to have them done, do you know of anywhere that has an affordable payment plan or another alternative? my teeth have never been very nice but are getting worse and my confidence is getting worse with it, they are stoping me doing alot of things the main thing is finding myself a boyfriend as i find it hard to talk to people i dint want the, to see my teeth, i dont smile anymore,i put my hand over my mouth when i laugh as i dont want people to see them, HELP, i just want to smile again, thankyou for your time, yours sincerley
A. Hi, cost is an issue dentists have to deal with. Recommending payment plans comes under “financial advice” and that means you have to be a formally accredited financial adviser.
We dont offer payments plans from our practice at the moment because normal loans are more competive. However if the credit crunch continues we may go down this route.
It is worth looking into phased treatment or alternatives to veneers such as direct bonding of resin filling to the teeth. It can look great and is about 1/3 cost, however it has a shorter lifespan and is not great in smokers / tea & coffee addicts due to staining over time
Hope this helps

Q. Hi, Is it possible to get cosmetic surgery and pay monthly?? i am 21 and about a year ago i had fillings inbetween most of my front teeth. they were ok at the time but over the year the have started to show, my teeth look dicoloured and you can see shadows where the fillings are. they just seem to look worse by the day. what do you think is best to get done to them and how much would it be? i just want to be able to smile again
A. hi many thanks for your enquiry, the first option would be to replace the white fillings for new ones this is more cost effective but will stain up again in time. the second option would be have porcelain veneers. this is more of a long term option and would ensure the teeth would not stain in time. the cost of this is more. both treatments are offered under interest free terms at many practices. hope this is helpful.

Q. Would my health insurance or dental insurance cover a lumineer procedure if my teeth has weakened as a result of hyperparathyroidism and a -1 bone density?
A. hi many thanks for your enquiry, the dental insurance would probably cover a portion of this. leaving a sum for you to pay for.
